We have suddenly lost most of the U.K. TV channels, BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4, we can now only get channel 5 and the odd general channels, is anybody else also having problems?

We did start to loose these channels in the evenings from about tea time but now there is nothing even during the day.

As you know i only have Spanish TV but on FB a lot of people have been complaining about loss of channels, i think the weather conditions have something to do with it .

working fine using DT media TV package :)

Plug your laptop or tablet into the tv. On line go to filmon.tv
every freeviw tv program FREE Gratis No Charge

ENJOY

Ours is ok during the day, starts to go teatime to early evening back about 2300. Having spoken to the TV engineer, they don't know at the moment what is the cause but it is widespread, spoke to someone from Muro today and they have none either.

Ours was similar 2-3 days ago, but now we've lost everything, apart from C5 and those rubbishy channels. Good job we've got internet to fall back on.

I saw this post on FB :-

Hi reference sudden loss of BBC, ITV Channel 4 but not Channel5! It started Sunday 10/1 it will return to normal on Mon 18th (South Mallorca) and Tue 19th (North Mallorca)
The problem will come back again between November 23-30rd Regards Ocean TV.

Thanks for all your helpful replies, I suppose it's just a case of 'watch this space'. At least it's not isolated to us and it seems to be a fairly general problem. We do use Filmon via our broadband but when there's a popular programme on you do get a lot of buffering (this could be my wifi though).

We have also lost all main channels now at all times of the day, couldn't even get channel 5 this morning!

Anybody with the Movistar fusion tv package, can you get BBC, ITV etc or just Spanish channels?

Never thought I'd say this but 'God bless computers'. :)

Are You not on Line El Gordo. And have an Internet connection ?????
Most people who use this site are !!!
Then Sir it's FREE

Last week I wrote this about the cost of connecting to Movistar Fibre Optic internet. There is no charge for disconnecting and connecting whilst away.

Movistar only install Fibre Optic cables if available, which soon should be nearly every where.

The cost for a standard line is € 51 + IVA per month. This includes 300 mb and a mobile phone number with virtually unlimited calls.

Installation is free of charge.

After 3 months, you are eligible to use as and when needed by just paying for the land line at a cost of € 16.50 + IVA per month.

If you want to be able to use the mobile sim card whilst you are not here but lend to other people ( friends, family ) then the cost is € 27 +IVA per month.

So, to cut a long story short, if you use your property for say, 5 months during a calendar year, the total yearly cost would be around € 370 + IVA ( € 450 )

Hope this helps those of you who come and go on a frecuent basis.

My understanding is that the only BBC channel is the 24 hour news programme. Everything else is stuff that most UK ex-pats wouldn´t watch, and it´s not cheap !

FREE Internet provision!!

I pay about £30 a month here!

Who do you use that provides FREE Internet access, please??

Hi Tangoman,

By here, I presume you mean N Ireland.

Internet has always been expensive in Spain, but from what I hear, the speeds in Spain are a lot faster.

The prices I mention above are for a special contract which allows you to disconnect and connect again at ones convenience.

A yearly contract without the ability to do this can be cheaper, it all depends if you want to include all the extras they offer you.

Channels back soon ... about the 22 January for PP...

Sudden loss of BBC, ITV and Channel 4 in Majorca » Balearics » News » Majorca Daily Bulletin -

... In the last week of November 2015, there was a poor BBC signal for eight days, so it was a shock for there to be a sudden severe loss of BBC last Saturday in Minorca and in the north of Majorca, followed by the south of Majorca on Sunday.

Sean Connolly from Ocean TV said he has been inundated with calls, asking him if the signal will remain poor from now on or will it recover before falling back again in four to six week cycles?
...

According to Connolly’s calculations, on 18 January the south of Majorca will get back BBC One (West Midlands, East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire, East Midlands, South, South West, Oxford), BBC One and Two Northern Ireland, BBC One and BBC Two Wales, BBC Radio 3 and 4. On 20 January, BBC One London, BBC Two England, BBC Four and BBC1 and 2 HD and BBC Radio 1 and 2 will follow. Minorca and the north of Majorca will also see a return of signal, similar to the south but up to two days later in the week.

...
To safeguard against future signal problems, Ocean TV is currently building a UK satellite IPTV streamer using just four transponders to provide Majorca with eleven subscription free channels (better known as Ocean’s Eleven).
...
After next week, Connolly says the signal will gain strength and will not drop significantly until the last week in November.

Thanks....but has anyone said why this happens?

Television reception almost normal now (Channel 4 iffy, though hardly a loss) and as reported by Sparky this was an expected outage (though not well publicised) to maintain the satellite according to both Infinity and Euronics, though they reckon a few days more before we're fully back to normal. All going OK despite the nay sayers who said over 16 months ago that our dish wouldn't suffice. Love my TV programmes ........ so long may it continue!
