For those that aren't aware it is possible to go out on the tourist boat round the bay as part of the procession. This is free, but be prepared to queue to get on .

Littlbird just a suggestion we always take plastic champagne flutes and whatever
Restaurant we are having dinner in we get a chilled bottle of cava and go on the
Beach for the fireworks it is magical !!! Whatever you do enjoy !!

Did anyone see the fireworks last night on La Gola beach. Not a patch on the usual spectacular finale for fiesta Virgen del Carmen.

Personally I thought they were excellent, and I have see quite a few firework displays in my life.
Apparently this years were specially ordered so that they would "explode" lower down so that the public would feel more envolved with the display.
If Alcudia wants to see fireworks, they can pay for them themselves !

So it's over for another year, i applaud the organisers for their efforts. We have had ten days of dancing, music, parties on the beach and in the square, the giants and big heads, a procession and the grand finale with the demons' fire run and batucada ending with the fireworks, OK the display was shorter but honestly, for a small fishing port i think they have done a fantastic job and lets not forget it was all free

Debz1 I think the local businesses pay for the fireworks now.Like everything prices go up and you get less for the money but I saw nothing wrong with the display. As Sparky says it was all free.

I didn't realise that lollipop. We all enjoyed the evening but thought the fireworks compared to previous years weren't quite as spectacular. You have explained the reason why now

Last night I was told that this year the hotel association did not contribute towards the cost of the fireworks, meaning the town hall had to pay for everything.
I was also told that they did not apply for permission to use larger fireworks, which go higher, which meant they had to use smaller ones.
There is an article in todays papers about this. Of course a lot of it could be sour grapes on the oppositions side.

Seems a lot of residents also thought the fireworks were disappointing compared to previous years.

The administration has offered a reminder of the fact that in 2011, when Cifre Ochogovia was mayor, there were no fireworks for the Puerto Pollensa fiestas'

We had a lovely time watching the fireworks and demons on Sunday night, although - yes - they did seem a little less spectacular than the last time. Still, it was an absolutely idyllic way to end our holiday. I can't believe we're back
