New Experiences

As an avid forum reader if infrequent poster I had noticed good reviews of Ca’n Josep and Brisa Marina so they went on the must try list for this year. Then at Ms Fussies insistance we went to Sapporro the new Japanese restaurant opposite O’Haras. This was the surprise of the holiday.

Ca,n Josep
Our first night out and very pleasant it was too. Meal was very good, service excellent and good value. We had two soup of the day, mussels followed by two seabass and the lamb shoulder. Two small bottles of cava for Ms & Mrs and a half bottle of red for me.Total cost 81 euros. Spoke with Josep afterwards, he’s been reading the reviews and dreading his first poor review. Pleased to tell him I would not be posting a poor review.

Brisa Marina
We have walk past this establishment almost everyday of our previous 12 visits and never ventured in. That was a mistake!! Only Mr & Mrs as Ms thought it too ‘fishy’. I wanted to try the fish soup and its excellent, lots of fish and sea food a meal in itself. I followed with the seabass. Mrs Fussy opted for the lentil soup then seabream. A word of caution both soups were excellent and came piping hot, a rarity in Mallorca, but would have been better on a cooler night. The fish courses were fine but in comparison with the soups underwhelming. Meal was finished off with a bottle of Albarino. Cost 57 euros. Good value for what we had.

Sapporro
Ms Fussy decided to visit Sapporro rather than Brisa Marina raved about it and insisted we give it a try. Normally I would never venture into a Chinese or Indian when in PP, never felt the urge to visit Fujisan when it was open so this was a real departure from the norm.
On discussion with the waiter it was suggested that fixed price menu would be the best option. This comprised miso soup, spring rolls, Maki (both sea food and vegetarian options are available), chicken or seabass then the best fried rice I’ve ever had. The whole experience was really good, the theatre of the cooking, the food and the welcome. Families seemed well catered for with the chef really playing up to the children. It was all good fun. We finished with warmed saki (complimentary) and with a total cost including a bottle of cava and a Japanese beer of 66 euros the best value meal out of the holiday.

Iru
Other than Corb Mari have tended to avois restaurants on the front so this was new to us. Ordered Peppers de pardron for two, bacon risotto for me, followed by vegetable paella for Ms & Mrs and seabream for me. Wine was Mortitx and at 20 euros the most expensive bottle of Mortitx. Included within price of 90 euros were freebie fish croquettes. At 90 euros not the best value so I guess you are paying for location.
