Visitors to PP

Last week we noticed something we cannot recall before in PP. This was the increase in the languages heard in the bars, restaurants and generally out and about. Usually it is English we hear as the predominant language after the local tongue but last week it was German, various Scandinavian and to a lesser extent, Eastern European voices. Is this just that we were being more attentive or could anyone resident in the Port confirm a change in the mix of visitors this year?

You are quite right Tony, there are many more nationalities here now including Russians..........so much so that Toni (El Posito) now has the menu printed in Russian, i kid you not .

I think the poor exchange rate and the lack of/price of flights from UK is having its effect on UK visitors.

Also Germany is the rich man of Europe, they can also get to Mallorca more easily. Many drive down and bring their dogs with them.

Pollensa has seen the bigger influx of Germans, but the port is catching up.

Those visiting Pollensa for the Sunday Market must have noticed the rise in German stalls and shops.

Not a bad thing but expect prices to rise as standards increase, but tips go down!!

I was in a shop the other week when I was spoken to by the assistant in German.....Reminder to myself to lose weight for next visit!!!

Was told many years ago the lack of Germans was due to the standard of hotel on offer, they did not measure up to their expected room sizes etc. Always puzzled me why there were so few Germans in PP as opposed to other resorts, PP is the top resort in Majorca, i would have expected more to visit to be honest. There's little or no evidence of German travel companies etc, the ones we see at the moment are individual travellers/apartment owners.

Hi I am Norwegian and have visited PP the last 20 years. I am glad there are different nationalities. If I only hear Norwegain I'm on the wrong place, Norwegians I see and hear every day
