I can view the Sail&Surf webcam on my laptop - no problem.
But it won't show on my desktop, I just get some weather dials:(

Both PC's running Internet Explorer.
Laptop on Windows XP
Desktop on Windows 7

Thanks for that WW - but I can't find it -please help.

Wyevale

I didn't realise that so many people had trouble accessing the S & S webcam. Never had any problems myself, luckily. I use both desktop and laptop, running windows XP and 7 and always use Firefox as my browser. I can only suggest that perhaps you make sure you have got Java installed on your pc. Other than that, perhaps your firewall is stopping it, I just use the windows one. I'm by no way an expert but hope this helps.

New webcam link for S&S

Hi all,
Not sure what position everyone is in re accessing webcams? Just recently the Sail & Surf link seems to have died from our computer, although it has always been fine otherwise. I found this (German link I think) on a general site and it seems to connect fine again. Worth a try if you are still having problems. This is using ordinary IE.

Bah! Now have axis error on SNS webcam, after years of trouble free viewing

downloaded the software, & it tries to run, but no joy, so now no PP webcams to view

all these little things add up...PP & it's businesses not promoting themselves....

Not sure where the problem is but I can no longer get it, have tried different browsers (including Firefox) and different web addresses (their German one), other friends of mine have also lost the site.:( I miss it so much, especially with our inclement! weather at the moment, I'm having to satisfy myself with the panoramic photos of the bay which have been posted recently.

I think the problem may be you dont have the latest browser or plugin installed. When I went to the site from the link posted by Ryansclan using IE it did not work on my machine. A yellow box appeared just below the address bar asking me if I wanted to install a Web - Axis plugin (it is easily missed). Click on this and follow instructions. I did this and then the webcam appeared as if by magic. You may need to check your settings to allow downloading of plugins etc if you don't get this message..

Hope this helps

Thanks just followed your instructions and have it working on Windows XP and IE6 sp3 which is really old so if I can get it working I would imagine anyone can.

Imagin better then cd:( ! Christmas going from bad to worse for us anyway, so why should I expect anything to go right at the moment!! Bad day - ignore me.

Bella - oh dear nice to know we are not alone! Do as I have done - switch on the tv and pour yourself a nice glass of Rioja! - works wonders!

Hope your day improves and have a wonderful Christmas.

eventually got reconnected after a bit of googling

Go to axis.com and click on downloads. You might have to register your name. After the registration is over click on Software Tools in the right pane and download Axis Media Control. This needs to install a windows media control and then install the Axis software.

as long as a valid email address is entered, it seems ok to put anything in 'required fields', & you can opt out of marketing , updates, etc

so enjoying a sunny Sunday view

Webcam

Finally got it going!! :D

Had to download and run the install program from Axis first. Taking care to allow the download through the firewall by clicking the message that appears below the menu bar!!

Then I accessed the webcam site then again allowed the intallation by clicking the message again below the menu bar.

I notice that this is the German page as the english link to the webcam takes you to a blank page?

It appeared!! although could not see much as it was dark!

Sorry Adminitrators if this should be put in the Webcam Page!!!

SParky - please feel free to move this to webcam page if you want to

Bella .... I have had the same issue as you for ages and have just cracked it

Its a bit longwinded but I will try to explain

Go to the Axis.com website and select downloads

You then need to register to download ...... it assumes you are a company .... so I just put my PP forum name as the company name and told them I was a company of 1 person operating from home .... make sure you remove the tick allowing them to send you lots of marketing

Then a new page came up welcoming me and on the lefthand side about 2/3 down the page there is an option to download software ..... click on it and select the Axis MEdia Control Software .... then on next page there is a list of about 4 links ...... manuals / instalation guides and the like ..... you need to click on the one called Download AMC etc

It then downloads your software ...... at various times you will have to tell your firewall its ok to allow stuff but in the end you get the optin to download and run which I selected

Then I just clicked on the website link, the message just under your toolbar will give you the option to Run Axis Media Cntriol ...... select this and hey presto a picture of PP in the dark

LOL! Thanks cd. I will print out these instructions and give it a go tomorrow in the hope I can see PP in the light! :D
