Don't worry, they have closed to visit family members....the 2 ladies are very much still in business and intend to make a good go of their new bar venture.

Chinese Whispers, As soon as a place closes the rumours start. Yes some places are closing early and yes some won't re-open next year, but i guess we won't really know who has survived until next year.

They told us they had a wedding to go to back home later in the year (now I should imagine) when we over in the summer.
They are determined to make a go of it so fair play to them.
They are intending to keep the bar open all year round if they can, I believe.

I may be wrong but im sure i have seen it back up sale in only the last week or so.

I have been told that the girls have handed the keys back to the owner. There are major problems in the building, with sewage leaking into the cellar and water leaking in from the doctors next door. The landlord won't do anything about it and refused the girls offer to go 50/50 on the repairs for a reduced rent. Very short sighted of him/her i say.

Oh what a shame.....the 2 ladies are so nice and have tried so hard to make a go of their place....yes the owner is being so short sighted.....with so many places closing due to the current economic climate you would have thought that the landlord would welcome the business with open arms.....hopefully the girls can find somewhere else to set up again....although it must be very frustrating for them...finger crossed.

I know I've "banged on" about these places in the past but agree totally that some of these landlords here are living on a different planet to the rest of us. Have never been in the girl's place but my neighbour switched his allegiance to them from Bonys because they were so pleasant and cheaper than Bonys.

Ain't meaning to start that old Bonys dialogue up again but where they provide real competition it is a shame to see them go.

So many of the closures that we are seeing now are being driven by the economic intransigence of these landlords .

Agree with you too BonysLad....

We were over in October, & 2.50 Euros for a pint of San Miguel, & 4.00 Euros for a large Cuba Libre & Coke was an absolute treat in Pat & Debs bar.....I do like Bonys myself as well, but after having a few in there I sometimes think how much!!!! when paying the overall bill..... Competition is great, & hopefully the landlords will come to their senses & see economic sense, after all some income is much better than none....

One question you guys might be able to answer for me.......How does the system work in Bar Cultural ?......Always fancied having a few beers sat outside the place, but do they come & serve you like the other bars, or do you have to go inside first?.....

They do come to your table, but be prepared to wait if they are busy.
