No worries on that score. I have a very sturdy shed in the garden with a strong lock. :)

This sounds like a brilliant idea, could come in handy on the beach if you don't want a massage ;) or for bad dog owners .

PC Pollença Council will launch a direct channel for residents to report environmental incidents and perform queries. Neighbors can download a mobile application to bring problems, need not be identified.

This from the Majorca Daily Bulletin

Bars and clubs in the Balearics could soon incur heavy fines if caught breaching the new sound laws agreed yesterday by the local government.

Keep the noise down or pay the price.
The authorities felt changes were necessary following the ever present problem between night clubs and neighbours who want a good night’s sleep.Even though the new laws will not be made official until 19 December, if the statutes are approved, clubs and bars located in or near to residential areas will have to install new sound regulators that will stop the music if it breaches the permitted level.Venues which have been warned or fined three or more times up until now, will also have to install the regulators. The government is keen to tackle the problem once and for all and confirmed fines, currently ranging between 150 and 600 euros, will now be anything between 150 euros and 300,000 euros.

Church bells.

Restoration work on the church bells in Pollensa has begun, the story is here :- Pollença desmonta las dos campanas de la parroquia - Diario de Mallorca translated by Google.

Pollença disassembled the two bells of the parish
The objective of the action is to reinforce the structure which supports the tower and clean the parts before relocating to the temple

j. frau In full debate on the need to replace old equipment or watch the steeple of the parish of the Mare de Deu dels Angels of Pollença, the council of this town yesterday proceeded to dismantle the two bells of the temple to perform the work reform the structure suporta the belfry, which is badly damaged by the passage of time. The performance yesterday will not affect the old machinery watch as various conservation groups claim the municipal opposition.
A large crane lifted yesterday morning in Plaça Vella, located on one side of the parish church, to lower the bells of the bell tower and under the watchful eye of many onlookers. Despite his pomp, the operation was necessary, according to the mayor 'pollencí' Tomeu Encrypt (PP). "The concrete enduring bells is in poor condition, is very porous and this has led to the oxidation of iron located inside and breaking of concrete, which is why we decided to remove the hood to reinforce the structure," he said yesterday mayor in the belfry.
In the temple there is a third bell large and very poor also wanted to dismantle yesterday, but finally a series of "technical problems" forced to postpone this operation.

Ready for the new year
renovation of the concrete structure and the cleanup of the two bells should be done quickly, as the intention of the City Council is to relocate the pieces so they can announce the new year next day 31.
After cutting the metal structure supporting the bells, the next step is to remove the sections supporting concrete is damaged and rebuild a new database similar to the existing dimensions.
Parish Pollença was founded by the Knights Templar in 1248, although the building we know today was built in the late eighteenth century with gothic and baroque ornamentation.

An interesting piece in the Majorca Daily Bulletin today, i wonder how much of this money will come to PP and if, as Andrew suggested on FB yesterday, this will mean the pedestrianisation of the frontline will be back on the agenda. I suppose we will have to wait and see ;).

12.4 million euros to be spent on upgrading resorts

Palma—The local ministry for tourism yesterday unveiled plans to spend 12.4 million euros on improving tourists resorts over the next few months. Local tourism minister Carlos Delgado said that the plan would not only improve the resorts it will also give them a lift during the low season.

Ah, Only 2 things certain in life they say. Death and taxes. Lets add a third, pedestrianisation. Me thinks there is more chance of me paying Mrs Pollensafan a compliment than ever seeing this done. They will more than likely spend it on some shady seating on the beach to cool the sweating brows of the beach massagers as they toil away in the hot sun:) Bless em

Bulletin news

We were very upset to hear of the death of the owner in his Pollenca Villa, following a botched break-in.Condolences to his family and friends.A very disturbing incident especially following our own personal experiences.Very sad indeed in a place we cosnsidered to be our 2nd home.

There was a break in at a villa in Siller, the Swiss owner was beaten and died from complications some days later. There were 2 men, both from Uraguay and one has already been arrested and charged, the second fled the country and is believed to be in Chile (i think) but authorities hope to track him down and bring him back to face charges. It is really awful that this can happen here but thankfully the offenders were quickly identified and will soon be brought to justice.

There was also an elderly gentleman found dead in suspicious circumstances in Pollensa last week. He had been hit with an axe. I assumed it was this one Plackeyman was referring to.

There are two incidents one on 01 Jan ...Swiss gentleman died as a result of injuries sustained following a break in and the second 15 days later 84 yr old found dead by a relative on his back in a pool of blood following a attack from a axe /hatchet.

RIP

Poor people, what a way to end your days particularly at that age. The only punishment for these evil criminals is a long drop from a short piece of rope IMO. Why do we pussyfoot about with criminals?

So sad to see this posted on FB today by the Unio Mollera Pollencina.

At the end we have cut it off. Many of us, in our Sunday walks towards the Illa d'Or Voramar wondered what was going to be that huge pine that crowned the lot next to the Little Italy pizzeria. Tens of years integrated in the House facing the sea. Now it appears that promoters that are going to make a new construction on that lot have decided that pine annoying.
The British know the Voramar ride as "Pinewalk". You can already go removing the first four letters.
We have counted the rings of the stem and they exceed 60. A real shame. (Translated by Bing

The destruction of yet another old pine tree on the Pinewalk. by lyn.sparkes, on Flickr

So sad!!!. by lyn.sparkes, on Flickr

That's really dreadful. What a shame the pines can't be placed under a preservation order. If a tree blows down following a storm, it's slightly different. This is destruction for greed.

Another one bites the dust :-(

You are so right Animagic......Destruction of this beautiful tree just for greed.

Living nearby, we had huge difficulties just trying to get permission for some balcony tiles to be replaced as they were leaking into my apartment below.

The whole process took almost 2 years as we were repeatedly informed that the area is 'protected'..... and now we see that the developers on this site have just gone ahead and chopped this beautiful tree down.

The owners of this site should hang their heads in shame.....along with those who are 'looking away' in my opinion.
