Had a short break in Cuitadella Minorca (13€ return on the ferry from Alcudia). Plenty of dogs being walked but no dog poo to be seen. Also very little litter. If Cuitadella can do it why can´t PP?
 
Is it what I posted above, i.e. no deterrent? Are the authorities in Menorca more aggressive in their approach than in PP, I don't know?
 
Just read on FB about a fire in "Josefinas" Spar supermarket this morning, i hope it's not too bad :eek:. Some of us refer to it as "Arkwright's" because it is open all hours ;).

A hotter and longer summer is forecastPalma.—The new Director of the Balearic Meteorological centre, Maria Jose Guerrero said yesterday that this summer, which officially started in the early hours of this morning, is going to slightly hotter and longer than usual.

Certainly going to be a body shock from this to that Tony! Still debating whether to sit in front of the hot oven to aclimatise before we fly! :rolleyes:
 
Now coach drivers threaten all out strike action
While the President of the Balearics, Jose Ramon Bauza, continues to be booed and jeered where-ever he goes in the Balearics, the trade unions are busy plotting the summer season from hell for his government and the Balearics as a whole.

Just a bit of news to remind us to be extra careful. There have been a few car break ins around the area and some items stolen. A group have been arrested, which is good news, but we still need to remember not to leave anything of value in cars when left unattended or overnight.

Palma.—National Police officers have broken up a gang of thieves who made a living stealing from cars used by tourists parked at various key scenic sites around the island, investigating sources confirmed yesterday.

Pollensa council aims to recover blue flags, provides beach facilities.
In an attempt to recover the European blue flag of quality which is not flying this year on the beaches of Cala Molins and the Port of Pollensa, the local council is improving facilities to the public.

Concern in Pollensa over uncontrolled development at the military base
The Majorcan Socialists and United Left parties on Pollensa town council gave a warning yesterday over what is perceived as “uncontrolled urban development” within the military base.

32 incidents caused on Sunday by freak Majorcan weather.
Emergency Services (112) reported 32 incidents caused by the sudden burst of bad weather although none of them were serious. The areas worst affected were Palma, Calvia, Andratx and Pollensa.
