The council are to decide the future of the Bar Katy building according to this article in the UH El Ajuntament recibe el bar Katy como legado a cambio de invertir en fines sociales » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca.

The City Council receives a legacy Katy bar in exchange for investing in social. Ends inheritance dispute Martí Catherine millionaire Adrover.

The municipal government last meeting held last week agreed to accept the legacy of Martí Catalina Adrover that after his death he left the City Council ownership of a building located in the first line of Moll, specifically known as Katy bar.
Catalina's will Adrover Marti puts the condition that his legacy is destined to a foundation for social purposes. The City Council of Pollença must decide now what is the final destination of the legacy, a property valued at 568,126 euros.
Social Purposes
"It is a matter still to be defined, the situation is complicated building directly have a social purpose but can assess the possibility of selling, for example, and allocate the revenue obtained a social order as the residence" said yesterday the mayor, Bartomeu Encrypt Ochogavía.
Martí's legacy Adrover Catalina, in 2008 generated a stir in the village is that although at first left neighboring Testament as the sole beneficiary to the City Council with the condition that the City Council allocate the benefits to investing in the residence subsequently appeared a second will holographic handwritten by the deceased in which Catherine Marti divided his property between the City Council and others own. Ultimately it was this second holographic which has given valid at the bar Katy will be the only property that you register the name of the Consistory.
Catalina Martí's legacy included numerous properties in Pollença and Moll and a number of works of art in addition to cash.

We had a very weird experience on our last night in Puerto Pollensa - wondered if any residents could shed any light on it? We were driving in a taxi from Pollensa to the Port and - for the first time in our lives - were stopped at a road block manned by the Guardia Civil, complete with machine guns! It was on the back road which goes past the Llenaire hotel - a most unlikely place to be stopped. We had to wind our windows down and the (actually extremely attractive, I happened to notice!) Guardia Civil officer had a good look at us, then waved us through. Obviously they were looking for someone - but who? Our taxi driver said there had been a murder the previous day in Santa Maria and I think had already arrested someone, so I assume it must have been connected with this - but why were the roadblocks in Pollensa?

Kate, it may have had nothing to do with the incident in Santa Maria. There is a crack Guardia squad in Mallorca at present (it has come from Valencia) which is specifically looking to tackle robberies in rural areas. It is quite possible that this was part of that squad as it was due to be setting up controls in areas that Trafico wouldn't normally, i.e. on minor roads rather than main roads.

Is it getting that serious on the island that they have drafted in, what I assume from the reference to machine guns, is para military type police ?

I think it shows the powers that be are serious about clamping down on the criminals, they are sending out a very clear message that it won't be tolerated.
Good for them .

Its not a case that is is getting that serious its a case of nipping it in the bud. Its great to see the Government here being pro active and sending out a clear message to criminals. Perhaps a lesson can be learned from this. :)

Free moorings in PP bay.

The plan to effectively take away the free moorings in the bay has been scrapped, here is the story from the DDM, translated by google Los fondeos en la zona de baño del Port seguirán sin control el próximo verano - Diario de Mallorca.

The City Council rule ask exploitation Costas four berths regulated by lack of consensus with the opposition.

All indications are that next summer will continue anchoring the boats in the maritime freely Port de Pollença. The City 'pollencí' ruled out, at least for the next tourist season, send a request to the coastal department to approve the temporary operation of four moorings located in different parts of Moll in order to regulate moorings and prevent, as each year, hundreds of boats fondeen at home in the bathroom area of the coast. The study prepared by the City plans to install removable pontoons and breakwaters output of the Gola areas and Llenaire and two located in the 'Mollet' Passeig Colom and the Military Base. In total, these four areas provide for up to 120 berths payment, for now, will not be awarded because the City Council has not submitted an application for authorization to Costas.
Municipal Councillor of Environment, Maria Buades, admits the existence of a problem with the boats moored illegally and adds that, on certain days of summer have come to count up to 300 boats between different bathing areas, with consequent environmental problems that are caused on the seagrass meadows. "The intention is to regulate the bay, but it is a very large project and have not had time to present, plus it has not reached a consensus with the opposition," he says. Buades added that the City "will continue acting" within the scope of their competence against illegal moorings and remember that annually removed campaigns are organized dead.
Tomeu Mayor Encrypt, meanwhile, admits that the municipal proposal had generated some controversy in the town and therefore has chosen not to seek the authorization of Costs. "We thought it was a good project to decongest the bay continue to work despite our skills are not," said the mayor

Andrew711 - that makes sense - we have certainly seen far more Guardia Civil patrol cars travelling around the rural areas in April than ever before - well, I'm not sure I ever remember seeing them, until this year. Last year we had a spate of burglaries in our rural location so let's hope this initiative makes a difference. I am quite happy to endure any amount of road blocks if it clamps down on rural crime. They certainly do seem to be making their presence felt.

EDIT: I should say that we have been victims of minor rural crime ourselves, though not recently - 4/5 years ago we had a break-in at our villa and 2 years ago a gang of metal thieves 'visited' our garden and stripped it (BBQ shelving, etc) of any metal during the winter while the villa was unoccupied. We now have electrically operated gates - and remove all our metal BBQ shelving during the winter and store it inside -so everything has been fine since then. Both very minor crimes - so please don't worry, anyone who is visiting PP for the first time! And if the Guardia Civil are taking this sort of thing seriously, that is fantastic news. Imagine in the UK, setting up roadblocks for house burglaries... that just shows how relatively crime-free it is in PP!

The City Council out to tender the seafront terraces after court setback

The City Council of Pollença has put out to tender, worth more than 138,350 euros, the exploitation of the terraces at the waterfront of Moll, in the public domain.
The award criteria for the different areas (listed 32 decks) give priority to establishments with a nearest orthogonal projection. Establishments closest entry will 80 percent of the points needed to continue to have the same terraces that had so far on payment of an annual fee of between EUR 371.19 and EUR 11383.19, depending of the meters and location.
The terraces out to tender until 30 November 2013, while the authorization is renewable for three more seasons.
This is the first time you ride the terraces out to tender. The City Council has decided to tender their holdings, as done with the beach or the bars and this year two zones sandcastles at 700 euros each, after the TSJB annulled last February municipal occupancy rate that came charging the City Council tourism entrepreneurs. The statement warned of duplicity in the charges because employers paid for the occupation to City Council Costs and Pollença.

This department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has imposed three fines in 2012, one on the beach of Alcudia and two in the Albercuix (Pollença). In all three cases the punishment "minimally" amounts to 865.46 euros, official sources require the Government Office.

...The fortress of Napirca, the most voluminous of all, was built on 40 square meters 'solar' in Albercuix. The two boys are accused of violating Article 90th of the Coastal Act, which prevents the occupation of the maritime-terrestrial public domain "without due administrative title."

...

The Coastal Authority officials stringent got alerted by the municipalities of Alcudia and Pollensa. The municipality of Pollença ensures that took up the matter after protests by "neighbors" and "hotel" says the councilor of Tourism and Environment, Maria Buades. ...

To overcome what he considers a problem, the municipality of Pollença has chosen to tendering two sections of beach at Coastal Authority requested. They will be the only coastal areas pollencí where you can build sand castles for profit.
The council employs the same formula administrative sculptures that used to award a business kiosk and powerboats. The municipality requires a fee sculptors of 700 euros for each lot. If you want to successfully pass the test, they should resort to a cabinet of economists.

As with any contest, candidates must prove their economic (including favorable report from a financial institution) and technical (ratio of the work done in the last three years). Among the specific obligations for sandcastles, Pollença dealer prevents the use of chemicals for modeling, placing bulbs and "under no circumstances, you can not encourage pedestrians to payment of a price for the observation of the sculptures ".

A 21-year-old Moroccan thief with a criminal record was yesterday recovering in intensive care at Son Espases Hospital after being caught red handed.

Hotel thief in intensive care after being caught

Palma.—The Moroccan was rushed to hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning after he was apparently caught red handed by three British holiday makers robbing their hotel room when they returned from a night out in Santa Ponsa. The Guardia Civil in Palmanova were called and when they reached the scene, the suspect was found unconscious and the bedroom was in a state of great disorder.
Apparently, the tourists did not provide the Guardia Civil with too much information but it was clear that the Moroccan had been beaten.
According to the three tourists, it was the Moroccan who has reacted violently and they had to use force to restrain him.
An ambulance was called and the young Moroccan was admitted to intensive care at Son Espases Hospital where he was still under observation yesterday after having apparently tried to take his own life when he eventually woke up in hospital.

According to sources close to the investigation, no charges are being placed against the three British holiday makers because they were the victim of a robbery and they claim that it was the Moroccan who reacted violently first.

All three have been questioned separately by the Guardia Civil and it appears that their story stands up.

What makes that story really interesting is if you imagine that situation in the UK the 3 men who came back to the hotel to find a thief in the room would probably all be locked up now and awaiting a costly and lengthy investigation as to whether they used to much force and could be facing GBH charges. The Guardia however take a more Human and sensible view "The thief should not have been in the room so he got a slap, saved us from giving him one, sorry gents please enjoy the rest of your holiday and thank you for helping us get this scum of the streets" Me thinks another lesson to be learned on how to deal with criminals :)

Really is this how you want your justice system to operate!

I'm no leftie - I think everyone has a right to defend themselves and criminals should be punished for their crimes but this became a 3 against one situation and their only option was to beat this man unconscious so he is now in intensive care (who by the way is now taking up a vital and very costly resource in the hospital) - really.

I'm sure we don't have the full facts but the way this has been reported sounds like the Guardia Civil have been quick to sweep this one under the carpet and I'm not sure it's for the right reasons.

I'm glad the man has been caught and will have to pay for his crimes through the criminal system. But it is a sad day that we feel that the way this has been handle is justice.

I accept the man was caught red-handed but remember we are all guilty in Spain before proven innocent so let's hope there is not someone waiting to give you 'a slap' and ask questions later.

Wow, I can't believe i'm reading this. 3 guys onto 1! Now he's in intensive care and we all think that this a good result. An eye for an eye eh...lets all go live in Saudi Arabia and have done with it!
Remember this is a Christian nation built on Christian principles, thats one of the big reasons we like it here. I'm from Dewsbury originally, and been the victim of and have seen enough crime to last 2 lifetimes!. Let me tell you the next time one of these guys does a burglary they'll be tooled up, just in case! So well done! bravo!

He's done wrong and should be punished by the justice system.

This is total and utter cowardice from the tourists, and the Guradia Civil.

Of course, this has nothing to do with the fact that the three tourists were British policemen in Santa Ponsa for a football tournament.

Be careful of reports. There is another which says that the three policemen used "minimal force" necessary to restrain the man and that he suffered a fainting fit, which was the reason he was taken to hospital. He has since appeared in court and has accepted an eight-month prison sentence and is duly locked away.

[The story below - via Google Translate - sounds somewhat different.
The tourists were policemen from the UK, used mimimal force, suffered no injury and the thief was already sentenced to 8 months]

A 21 year old Moroccan girl tried to commit a robbery on Wednesday in a room in a hotel in Santa Ponsa, unaware that in this tourist resort of Calvia focus more than 1,000 police officers from around the world participating in a football championship. The tourists who sought to rob three policemen were British surprised him with his hands in the dough and cut. When called the Guardia Civil in Palmanova explained that they had used "minimum force necessary". The thief was conducted yesterday in court and subjected to a speedy trial, where he accepted a sentence of eight months in prison for the attempted burglary.

Santa Ponsa Mallorca hosts this week Football Tournament 2013, a football tournament involving a thousand police officers from 26 different countries, which has become the town of Calvia in one of the places with the highest concentrations of world police .
Tournament attendees staying in four hotels in Santa Ponsa. And a young Moroccan chosen precisely such establecimentos to perpetrate a robbery. Early Wednesday morning, got out of the window in a room in which they slept three tourists, who turned out to be British policemen.

Agents woke up and surprised the young red-handed when carrying and several of his belongings. Among the three rushed after him and quickly reduced. Then alerted the Guardia Civil and admitted they had used to immobilize "minimum essential force" a crutch common in police reports.

A thief suffered a swoon, and he was taken to hospital Espases but confirmed there had no injury.

Yesterday was transferred to the judicial de Palma, where he was subjected to a speedy trial. The defendant agreed to a sentence of eight months in prison for a crime of attempted burglary.

Typical reporters ;)...... but the main thing is that another criminal has been taken off the streets .

Don't thieve and this won't happen, simple. How many people has this piece of vermin stolen from and got away with it? All those cameras and mobile 'phone with people's holiday memories, sentimental jewellery etc.

Of course it's a shame it came to this in the first place.
