Thanks for these updates Sparky, they are really useful. I'm not so sure the plans do represent as much as a dogs breakfast as I previously thought. The picture gives a better feel for how it will work and much of it now makes sense. The problem is the translations are a bit confusing !! If anyone is looking for a business opportunity , I would suggest there is scope for an improved translation app from Spanish to English !!

It is not clear to me exactly which portions will have parking and where. It appears that the shop end will be reduced to a single one way carriageway with more pedestrianisation next to the shops and that this and the other side of the road will be paved. This is managed by making the road one way but I assume parking will still not be possible. These changes are only from La Goleta to Brisas. I can't however fully envisage the layout from La Goleta up to Llenaire ?What is new is that from Tamarells the road will be split with it going one way towards Alcudia and one way going towards the port. This makes sense as traffic from Alcudia will have to go on the by pass and only access the beach road past Pollensa Park. This should ensure those wanting the main town stay on the by pass. Road/pavement materials remains a concern, all in all though this looks a step in the right direction.

Glad you are finding the updates useful Chels. Translation is always a problem and so many details do tend to get lost, pictures and plans do help although i wish they would make them a bit more detailed, it's early days i know but lets hope future pics have more meat on the bones, not for the dog's breakfast though ;);).

TIMES: the bathing area for animals due to the closure of a new restara poisoning.
There's an open criminal investigation joint between the Local police and the Seprona.
In having the adequate measures will start to enable the same area.

Basically it would seem that some very sick individual has laid down poison on the "Animal friendly" area of Llenaire beach which has now been closed while an investigation is underway. Whether you agreed or not with the decision to have this area this is disgusting and i hope they catch whoever did it and punish them severely :mad:.

An update on the story from La muerte de dos perros por veneno obliga a cerrar la playa para animales de Llenaire - Diario de Mallorca.

The death of two dogs by poison forced to close the beach to animals Llenaire.

The death of a dog with clear symptoms of poisoning after being with their owners yesterday morning on the beach in Llenaire (Port de Pollenca) in which, since the beginning of this summer, authorizing the presence of pets, a case that adds to registered last June, forcing the municipality of Pollença yesterday to make the decision to seal the sand to avoid new episodes of animal deaths. The Consistory 'pollencí' suspicion that a neighbor in the area that would be against the presence of dogs in this popular beach Moll could have put dog food sources which would have added a toxic substance with the clear objective of ending life of animals.

In yesterday's case, with autopsy data and confirmed, the session 'pollencí' poisoned dog explained that a 'golden retriever' belonging to a family that had moved from Alcúdia especially for a day at the beach ' pollencina 'in the company of your pet, died from ingesting metaldehyde, a chemical used as a pesticide against slugs and snails. Ingestion of food poisoning occurred about eleven o'clock. Soon after, the animal went into convulsions, loss of mobility and coordination, severe diarrhea and eventually bleeding. The family took him to the vet emergency in Puerto Pollensa, which could only certify the death of the dog about two in the afternoon.

Police investigation
Knowing this second case of poisoning of a dog on the beach in Llenaire, the municipality of Pollença filed a complaint with the local police and Seprona, who have opened an investigation to determine the causes of these deaths and try to discover the authors, who have the goal of creating "social alarm" about this beach. According to the Consistory, Llenaire receives daily visited by hundreds of people accompanied by pets.

The first case of poisoning occurred on June 7. Municipal sources explained yesterday that at that time it was not acted because "there was insufficient information" to decide to close the beach, as the pet owner's family filed a complaint only when they had passed thirteenth day of the event.

This time, once confirmed that the dead dog was also poisoned yesterday, the council has decided to seal the beach "until further notice". For now, do not know the time that the sand will be closed to the public. At the municipal level are already considering what steps can be taken to ensure the safety of people and animals and so to permit the reopening of the beach. Not rule out the surveillance cameras installed to focus the area, although city officials are aware of the "difficulty" which involves the resolution of the case, as the product used to poison animals is very easy to get in any store specialized.
Anyway, the intent of the City is to reopen the beach because of the "success" obtained between tourists and residents, who daily visited by tens of Llenaire the sand to enjoy a swim in the company of their pets.

As a dog owner that is absolutely terrible. :( :(

It's a shame that dogs have died but young children are also attracted to the little blue slug pellets.

To deliberately place poison on a public beach at the peak of the tourist season is just crazy.

There needs to be a sign to warn people why the beach is closed, the police tape as in the pictures here is not adequate and people could walk past it as there is no reason given.
It should say poison as that would keep people off.

Agree totally, Mark. Just disgusting! These people are worse than animals. As you say children have access as well as animals.

Lets hope they catch these creatures asap - whatever next? :(

This is an appalling thing to do - can't imagine anyone in their right mind being so irresponsible putting not only dogs in danger but children as well:mad: I dont know about them being 'worse than animals' - animals just would not do anything like this - even if they could;)

The Blog by Andrew Ede in todays Bulletin mentions the poison on the beach in a very good article on Puerto Pollensa with no punches pulled

I do hope they get it under control soon Sparky - it must be terrifying for the residents - we know Estellencs quite well and have had lunch there a few times - lovely little Italian restaurant with spectacular views - we always seem to be the only ones in it:) And the little town itself is very pretty and there is a sort of donkey structure created from bits of seemingly rusty bits of scrap iron in the centre:D

OMG this is just awful!
I do hope this is brought under control and made safe soon.

Those photos are just something else!

Oh goodness that is so sad....hope they get it under control soon and no casualties.

This is so awful and those pictures seem unreal don't they! The horror of being near by must be such a worry. Thank God for people brave enough to do the job of fighting it. Please God no one is hurt and PLEASE no wind!!

That's the problem Eleanor there is a fairly stiff NW breeze 20kph. I read earlier that one firefighter has been taken to hospital suffering from heat exhaustion :(.

Oh no! Just awful! Lets hope he is ok and obviously all the rest of the crew too. Didn't realise there was a breeze too - so much for the fighters to deal with.

We stayed a few nights in Estellencs after our wedding nearly 2 years ago. A Lovely place and we met some great locals, hope everyone is OK, I have been reading that this is the worse fire on the island for two decades.
