Wi-fi in apartment.

At our last community meeting not enough voted to have the internet installed, good point. However, we have a 'phone line so can't it come via that or, because it's internet only, does it have to have a dish then?

I assume that if I have a dish it's a wireless connection from there into the apartment?

Try Telitec.net, English speaking and can be switched off when you are back in UK

Before going with IB Red , I would check out connecta Balear . They have the advantage that their website is in English. They offer a standard 7 mb download / 2mb upload at 35 euros a month. The IB red equivalent is 49.9 euros a month. The installation charge is slightly more expensive but it's not significant. I don't know if they allow the 6 month turn off which of course is a significant issue.

I checked the Conecta Balear site and yes big help with it being in English. You pinpoint on Google Earth where you are and they email you with coverage.

They responded very quickly in good English and visit to do a free survey only charging you if the signal is no good. Set-up was 130 euros and I think there's a basic package for up to three devices for just over 20 euros a month? You can also switch off for up to six months if you have holiday accommodation.

I will check out the other service above as well. As usual, loads of good info on here!

From their site about the 20 euro package:

*Only available in the urban centers of Manacor & Porto Cristo.

The 35 euro package is the one for Pollensa area, not cheap but plenty fast enough and as fast as IB reds most expensive service.

Remember these are + VAT

so many choices these days
