At the moment in the square all that is open is Casa Manolo, Casa Vila and Kashmir, on Passeig Anglada Camarasa, Casinet, Valls icecream parlour, Cafe 1919, Pascalinos and Marina Brasserie are open along with most of the bars in the back streets.

Thanks for recent updates. From afar it is difficult to appreciate exactly what is happening along the front. However, interestingly, note from Bails that traffic is finding various & non recommended routes through PP.

Smaks of what happened last time when it became apparent to everyone that there was no good reason for what was being planned & implemented .It duly fell apart.

I hope that the current plan is good & well implemented.

Believe me... regardless of whether it's summer or winter, pedestrianisation work or not...there are always motorists or cyclists who will find their own routes around the Port  ;).

Looking at the webcams and photos on FB, there have fenced off all the way up to Sea.Bar.es, would be good if they could do that far before next season! :)

From my understanding they are doing all the digging up etc. this year and refurbishment next.... ;)

great pics Whaley, really shows the work being done, I assume the lay by in the car park is for the taxis!

I think the taxi rank is staying put for now, at least that's what they said when they started the work .

Ah, ok Sparky, you are probably right, I am sure I read somewhere that they were moving the bus stop and the taxi rank, may just be extra parking then, work is sure moving on though!

Just thinking, they will need to finish this first step by Sant Antoni as the tree goes along the front to La Gola doesn't it!

This is from the original FB post :-

This morning it has carried the signature of the Act of staking the pedestrianization of the first line of the Port de Pollença, Then, we have interviewed the Councillor for urban development, who explained the project. We inform you that starting Monday the works, for this reason the Council reports:-will be closed the traffic from Paseo Saralegui, from the roundabout to the Elcano Street Rock Engineer. There will be a single access to get in and out of the parking lot of Ports. The drivers that come from Alcúdia, you will find all the instructions with alternative ways to enter the Port de Pollença.
-The bus stop is at Calle Roger de Flor, right behind the building Miquel Capllonch (past Posts). And stop of taxis will remain at the same site.
-While supplies last works, you will find the tourist information office in the building Miquel Capllonch.,

As for Sant Antoni, they could temporarily move the barriers to allow them to take the tree around on the usual route but we will have to wait and see ;).

 Is El Gordo just joking?

The very year (August 16) we have booked for staying frontline, south sandy beach again.....maybe should have stuck with the Pinewalk end for next year! :D

Wow, they are certainly cracking on with it aren't they, at this rate it will surely be ready for next year, can't wait to see the changes!

Favie i am sure that El Gordo is kidding.

Thanks, I am sure you are right Sparky. :)
Read back the thread...a long one! :)
With your latest post and a past one from SWS saying first phase should be finished for March, all sounds positive. :D
Locals will be glad to see it completed I imagine.

Thanks for info.

This all sounds very well , or not very well.

What is being done according to the grand plan.

Something, ( the barrier) moves out every other day from the roundabout along the sea front but for what reason. The finished article will not be as far as tamarells or even la gola.

Does anyone know what is to be achieved by March 2016.

Maybe since there is no one or no traffic currently or until march next year the powers that be just move barriers around up & down the sea front for the hell of it.

Yes the footpath has been taken up that far.New kerbs are being laid and I assume the footpaths renewed.

I have put a couple more photos on my Flickr site, taken this week. Taken outside Brisa Marina, you can clearly see the edge of the original pavement, where they have dug out for the new kerbing, this gives a good indication of the width of the new road. Just click on my signature 'My Flickr Photos'.

Yep I agree great pics. Moving ahead pretty well . Also great weather continuing. Pity no one around to enjoy PP.

Keep the pics coming
