This is from the DDM - Tots per Pollença denuncia el parón de las obras del Moll y el Consistorio lo niega - Diario de Mallorca :-

Tots per Pollença denounces the break of the works of Moll and Consistory denies.

The Deputy Mayor for Urban admits that the work of pedestrian moving at a low rate.

The main opposition group in the city of Pollença, Pollença per Tots, said yesterday that the works semipeatonalización project that began a few weeks ago in the first line of Moll 'pollencí' have been paralyzed by the construction company.

The former mayor of Pollença, Tomeu Encrypt, explained that the reason for the halt of the project is that the works have been outsourced to another company that had decided to stop the project for unpaid work done. Tots per Pollença even sent photographs of the area where the action takes place in which there are operators working.

However, the government team yesterday flatly denied so that the works were halted, although it admitted that these do not progress at the desired pace. The Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Tomeu Encrypt, attributed the decline in the rate of the Christmas season and the absence of an engineer who had worked on the project since work began.

Encrypt said that the works will go ahead and that after the Christmas holidays the construction company "increase the pace." The deputy mayor explained that the construction is expected to continue working during the holiday season except for holidays and vowed to reclaim a "boost" to the company to raise the intensity of work in order that they can meet the deadlines. "At the current rate is not fulfilled," he admitted.

So was any work being done today? Worrying to read the stuff from the papers

Only three operators currently work in the works of Moll semipeatonalización.

The government team of the City of Pollensa , consisting Junts Avançam and UMP , admitted yesterday that these days only three people working in the works of semipeatonalización of the first line of Moll pollencí , a wholly insufficient to meet the deadlines set template A beginning. The aim of the council, which assumes the direction of works, is to conclude the first phase before next March to not coincide with the start of the tourist season. The City Council has refused from the outset that the works have been paralyzed , as has been reported since the first opposition group, Tots per Pollença , but recognizes that the pace of work is undesirable and that the number of workers should be much higher. The Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Tomeu Encrypt Bennàssar , admitted yesterday that some days like Monday only worked in the afternoon, but not in the morning, because operators "were hanging by a concrete supply . " He also explained that the operator of one of the bulldozers has left without work for now the reasons are known. From Tots per Pollença, citing sources close to UMP, the party of Moll, say that there was a "dispute" between workers because of a problem with the payroll. In this sense, the ruler Encrypt said that the City "does not know the internal details of the construction company" and reiterated that the works have not been suspended at any time. "In fact, he has paid the first certification of works , "he added. The municipal charge of Urbanism recognizes that three workers "too few" for a work of this magnitude. "We have told engaged to advance the construction side and stop the demolition of the old sidewalks." According Encrypt the ideal template it would be composed of two teams of six people each. "We are not happy with the current situation because the work can not be left without workers, but the company is committed to increase the pace and to incorporate more people " said the deputy mayor. The Consistory confident that next week the workforce is larger and that in the first working day of 2016 the brigade already has all workers. Encrypt said that from now the City "will be more on top" of the work and warned that if the deadlines are not met will be launched penalizing measures .

It is now situated in C/Roger de Flor opposite the post office, there is a photo of it in post #182. The taxi rank is still in it's original spot.

From the pictures I have seen on here and on Facebook it appears that the single lane will be in the centre of the existing 2 lanes and the pavement will be widened on both sides ...... WHY? I am sure there is some logic in this but it escapes me. This means the pavement on the beach side that is quite wide enough will be extended and the pavement on the shops side will not be that much wider - probably about 2.5 times the existing width.

I had always assumed they would pave over the side of the road nearest the shops to create a wide paved area to allow people to wander along whilst also giving some of the bars extra room for outside tables.

Anyone help me ?

I agree with you cd. Can't see the point of any of it if they don't make the shop side considerably wider. I also think it's going to look very odd with just a single lane for traffic going through the middle of it all

Its such a mess just now impossible to see what they are going to do with it or even if they will ever get it finished . Dont think they even know what they are doing with it. Its like a crazy person in a digger dug the entire front up and then left 3 people to try put it all back together.

Don't forget there is also a 2-way cycle lane to take account of as well

Just looking at the plans again which as Sparky posted can be found here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hnd6kesjv8p8ov3/AADZN6rKDHfo7WTsNKHbGMlqa/PLANOLS-projecte

The road width will vary from 5m to 3m with the cycle lane at 2m, so some sections will be a total of 7m from curb to curb and 5m in other places

PLANS!!!! Lmao Me thinks they have gone of Plan a tad. Somebody forgot to tell them to stop digging.they almost made it to Alcudia lol. Maybe if we have a good winter storm the beach will come over the wall and make it look better and we will have a nice wider beach and whatever is left as a road/track/ building site lol:D

Back working on the front again, you can see them in the webcam, looks like they are going all the way up to Tamarells beach bar, hopefully stop there then people can go up past Polly park in the summer.

Great set of pictures posted pre-Xmas by Sparky, Plans also, You do need to magnify the plans as much as poss' to see clearly the complete proposal for the works.
As often happens (in this country as well as Spain) these types of works can soon get out of hand if the contract is not planned and carried out correctly and with due haste. It seems that internal politics re finance has raised its ugly head on this occasion.
BUT, somehow, once the authorities/contractors do get 'sorted' they have a habit of 'pulling the cat out of the bag'. This has happened in PP on many occasions previously with hotel / apartment developments, roads including resurfacing, the marina development, etc., etc. So just keep your fingers crossed and hope we get a decent finished article (first phase) - preferably prior to May and the start of the main holiday season.

That was quick work, thats the curb up and lampposts down all the way up to Tamarells now!!

Definitely more workmen there today, this photo was posted this morning by the Unio Mollera Pollencina on their FB page :-

If that's the new curb the path will be considerable wider.
Looks good.
