Cath B I was joking in an attempt to lighten the mood although there are far more hazards as you approach the Llenaire end at present. To be fair I have been out this afternoon and there are expansion gaps on both sides of the road this hasn't prevented there being plenty of cracks however. For the interest of all I am currently loading pictures to Flickr so you can all see current state of play. With one day to go the Llenaire end represents a building site.

Thanks for taking the time Chelseadons. IMO it looks rather shoddy. I can understand the roadworks themselves being there, although not happy about it for obvious reasons, but the "finished" works are not particularly pleasing to the eye from what I can see, and if it's cracked all ready, well, what is going to look like next month, or next week even? Any good parts? :o:

Thanks so much for the photos. I don't really know what to say.

The previous red and yellow flagstones were much nicer - A warmer colour, a better quality product and lifted the grey colour of the beach wall.

The quality of the work seems to be awful. If the finish were to act as the base to a new garden shed it may (perhaps) just be passable, but in its current state looks thoroughly municipal and basic.

Short of putting a completely different material top-coat onto it, I'm not sure what you would do sort this out.

I fully understand why there is so much concern.

Goodness sake.....what have they done to the Beautiful front! Said I wouldn't judge until I seen it for myself but your photos are so clear. It looks a complete and utter mess, the colour is awful, done by cowboys by the look of things! When I look at PP on Google Street View along the front I wish they had left well alone (preferred the old imperfections!) well at least until they could afford to do it professionally! Oh! I know they would have to have handed the money back to Madrid....

Just my opinion, please nobody shout at me, others might think it is Beautiful and a huge improvement. (What I so wanted to think and what PP deserved.) :(

PS Does anyone think it is Beautiful.

Do you think I should bring my work boots next week?

Any good bits ? The positives are that the paving is now passable everywhere on the shop/hotel side from the roundabout to Llenaire. In addition the stretch from the roundabout to the tabac shop and the stretch outside Tolos have been patterned to what I would call a reasonable standard. The rest however is totally patchy with little uniformity. The planting of new trees if they grow will be welcome. The remaining unknowns are can they clean up the cement before sealing and when the sealing goes on will it darken considerably ? That has been the affect where carried out. I'm just hoping that the top can be redone next year and I think it will be the role of all interested parties to insist the authorities take this approach. Llenaire looks like it will be a state for most of May that assumes they will be allowed to carry on working into the season.

A friend who was in PP two weeks ago, and has seen the photos, has told me that the cracks are larger than they were two weeks ago! I was actually partly joking when I suggested that, but it seems to be a fact. Surely that alone would make it necessary for the authorities to do something practical about the shoddy work immediately? :(

Just walked past Tolos Restaurant and saw police car booking two cars who had parked right outside and had obviously driven the wrong way to get there. Also saw another two cars and numerous cyclists travel the wrong way continuing well past the top of Avinguda Paris. As has been said before, it's only a matter of time before there's a serious accident.

Just seen your photo’s Chelsedons, they paint a much grimmer picture than I was expecting! Wonder how the people in Madrid will feel about the money being spent on a work of this quality? I’m sure the reason for the cracks are a lack of steel reinforcing and will come back to haunt them at a later date. The speed at which they went past the webcam did not denote a quality of workmanship. Will be able to inspect for myself later in May and early September.

Yes it's disappointing not least because I can't imagine short of digging it all up again what can be done to make it good. Really don't understand why they went with concrete and not Tarmac ?

Is it the same materials that were used to do our pool area? We didnt re-inforce that I dont think???

Work is finally starting on the path across the front of the old el Ancla site, and also the wraps are coming off at Hotel Romantic. :):)

It was a false alarm, all the concrete was for the el Ancla terrace, I do hope they finish this bit off though.

Who knows Hoopy ? The surface looks nothing like ours , I was expecting it to be stamped in similar fashion but as I've said their is no discernible pattern at all. Our top is in perfect condition 12 months on, the pedestrianisation on the other hand has cracks in the top surface all the way down the front ?

Have a question about cycle parking, have they replaced the hoops to lock your bikes up to as they have gone along the front, always cycle down to the beach so need somewhere to lock the bikes up to, see someone has locked one to a lamppost which isn't ideal?

No bike hoops as of 2nd May ....more bikes than I've ever seen attached to the new lamp posts and the very young trees.

Not ideal at all ....

I would bet my bottom dollar that the ramps will be installed before May 1st Debz. Lets see

Sorry to say hoopy but you have lost the bet...no ramps installed.

Young families with babies in buggies and people in wheelchairs are having to attempt to get down very large curbs...only to be met by cyclists (like swarms of ants) riding the wrong way! Cars coming the correct way are hooting and having to give way to avoid an accident. This is not an exaggeration! People are yelling at them and telling them they are going the wrong way and they either ignore or get abusive!

Speaking of public rights of way, have you seen what Edificio El Ancla have done, completely blocked the path with stacks of blocks and materials, they shouldn't be allowed to do that!!

Still the same..

The sealing application is going to start this Thursday at 05,00 am.

They hope to do the whole paseo in one fell swoop.

What happened Molt? ....Nothing

For the last 3 days there's been no one working at all. Today we saw 2 workmen between Llenaire and the Marina roundabout ....sitting in a van on their mobiles. TWO??? You'd think they'd be pulling out all the stops considering 'work' has to stop by May 4th
