The front looks stunning today, and noticeably more people around too, they have started work a on the path across el Ancla again, the are repairing the kerb stones that got knocked over by the heavy lorrys, hopefully get that bit done today, rain forecast for later in the week so need to get everything done before then :):)

Sorry to say hoopy but you have lost the bet...no ramps installed.

Young families with babies in buggies and people in wheelchairs are having to attempt to get down very large curbs...only to be met by cyclists (like swarms of ants) riding the wrong way! Cars coming the correct way are hooting and having to give way to avoid an accident. This is not an exaggeration! People are yelling at them and telling them they are going the wrong way and they either ignore or get abusive!

OK Debz1. Lunch is on us next time.

:)

No bike hoops as of 2nd May ....more bikes than I've ever seen attached to the new lamp posts and the very young trees.

Not ideal at all ....

No not ideal at all, especially in high season!

Bus Stop

Has anyone used/seen the new bus stops in c/ Roger de Flor recently? When we there at Easter there was no seating or shelters, but this was planned to be rectified.

One Way or Another?

Just had a look at Seem....... webcab, and I am a bit confused.

The main road "seems" to be one way for cars . going towards the harbour. However, all the cyclists seem to be going in the other direction, generally in the middle of the road.

Confused. Can anyone explain?

This is already being discussed here http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/walking-cycling-golf-sports/12791-cyclists-driving.html

Basically, once the cycle lanes are marked, cyclists will be able to cycle in both directions within the marked lanes. At the moment cars & cycles should only be travelling in one direction towards the Marina. Please comment on this within the post just referred to. Thanks!

There is only one small shelter and benches at the bus stop near the grassed area...there is nothing at the other at the back of the church

Finally doing the path across el Ancla site now :):)

Thanks. That bus stop by the grass is the one for buses to Pollensa & Palma, The one behind the church is for buses to Alcudia. I should think the Pollensa & Palma buses are busier & maybe it's easier to put the benches & shelter there.

If anyone has a photo, please do post it & let me know if I can share it on our Facebook page. I should think quite a few regular visitors may not yet be aware & will turn up looking for buses at the front.

Just looking at the webcam this morning. Looks like a beautiful day!

I cannot help but notice that roadside parking alongside the beach is pretty-much solid with cars.

Just a busy week, or is the loss of parking on the landside of the road having quite an effect?

In my opinion a great observation by lovemallorca.

I have just returned home after 1 month in P.P.

The new pavements , new tamarisk trees & the new street lights really make the seafront look exceptionally good.I have however, not changed my original opinion on two fronts.

1. It would appear that the project has been very badly managed . The lack of effort at the start, the problem with dropped kerbs & the fact that it will overrun the may date just amazes me. Very little appeared to be happening recently & there is a vast amount of tidying up still to be done. The fact that a finalisation date after easter & may day holiday was agreed to is astounding .
2. In the height of summer both sides of the seafront & all the side roads are completely jam packed , should a cycle land be put in on the land side then there will be a major & terminal parking problem. Those who think that car parks can somehow magic themselves out of expensive real estate or from wetlands of just park on the ring road 400/500 yards from the seafront are missing the point about P.P.
I hope that the character of & accessability to the seafront is not lost as this , I believe , one of its greatest strength.

By the way I do approve of the improvements done so far .it is the final arrangements that I am fearful of.

The cycle lane will be on the sea side with parking on the land side, its busy but I bet the side roads are empty though!

Hi sws97sdg,

So the parking on the land side will have to compete with the coaches / delivery thereby reducing further parking spaces. ! Also those going to the beach will have to cross a road & a cycle lane ?.

I disagree, the side roads are stuffed from june - September every year with the original parking arrangements.

Wow, they've certainly gone overboard with the bus "shelter",
Could they have actually made it any smaller?

What on earth are some of the "powers that be" in PP on, cos I'd certainly like some!

There are laybys in front of the hotels for coaches and plenty of raised crossings, as for the side roads I meant now I bet they are empty, I have never seen all of the side roads full even in August!

Is this stop the pick up and drop off for the Palama bus? TIA
