Semi-Pedestrianisation of the front line in PP.

Hi Molt , I had a big smile on my face when I read your post , still have.

Looking at the graphics on sws97, It appears that there is a picture of a car lane but no other picture of a car, does this indicate no parking lane ?

Not smiling now .
 
There is parking but not all along, the plans have 8 or so different cross section diagrams at varies locations along the whole length of the road, this one was just to show the cycle lane , if I remember correctly there is no parking from the roundabout to ave Paris, then parking all the way along
 
Yep but why is there not two car widths shown in the diagram, 1 for driving through & 1 for parking ?

Does anyone know what the relationship is between the Consortium Kenya Tourist Accomodation, Pollensa Council and the semi pedestrianisation? :confused:

Sorry Debz but i don't understand, the link is from a report in 2014 but i can see no mention of the "Consortium Kenya Tourist Accomodation" or am i missing something :confused::confused:.

Hi sparky, if you go to page 6 on this thread it's in the link you posted. I copied the link but it hasn't transferred in English.
 
So the Consortium Kenya Tourist Accomodation has had nothing to do with the semi pedestrianisation? :confused:

Some areas have no parking, like along in front of the shops, as there is not any now!
 
As i said i posted that in 2014 but i have just Google translated it again and this is what it says now :-

The semipeatonalización of the first line of Port de Pollença is a little closer to being reality. The consortium bag Tourist Accommodation, dependent on the Ministry of Tourism has initiated the bidding process for the construction works of'reforma and rehabilitation project in semipeatonalización the section of the MA-2220 road between the square of the driving of Llenaire and the rotunda of the end of the street Joan Moll XXIII''pollencí' for a total amount of 1.4 million euros, including VAT. Interested companies now have 26 calendar day period from yesterday, date of publication in the BOIB. The consortium will provide the amount of 600,000 euros, while the municipality of Pollença invest around 750,000 euros. The deadline for execution of the works has been set at a minimum of six months and a maximum of eight, with no possibility of extending the implementation of the project. The intention of the City Council, an institution that will assume the management of the works, is to develop the project in two phases. The mayor of Pollença, Tomeu Cifre (PP), said yesterday that still need to study the deadlines and expressed doubts about the possibility of starting work soon so that the first phase is completed before the next tourist season. The notice comes after the Minister of Tourism, Jaime Martínez, committed itself in February to "expedite" the project so that the work could begin this year, a discarded possibility because of the date on which, finally, he has begun processing. The semipeatonalización mean that the first line does not have a unique sense of movement, but alternate sections with double direction with others that will only be permitted circulation in Alcúdia sense or Formentor. The project includes a vial for the movement of vehicles and another for the nearest beach bikes and enabling battery car parks on the side of the buildings of the first line.
 
Been here a week today and have to say we are impressed with the results of the pedestrian project, however it is beyond me how the Policia local and the Guarda totally ignore the blatant misuse by cyclists of the new one way traffic system where today we saw riding manyriding around signs indicating no entry. It seems they have some form of anonimity just like in the U.K.
 
Agree entirely, something needs to be done with the infra structure / organisation of the one way system ahead of "summer" . we need some road rules here.

The Diagram clearly indicates a Bi-directional Cycle Lane. :eek: ;)
 
Indeed it does, which is why in a previous post I said the issue with people cycling the wrong way up the coast road will not be addressed until the cycle lane and road markings are in place
 
Just read a translation from Punt Informatiu on FB which states the "The second phase of works will consist of the new paved promenade leading from the square to Llenaira Engineer Roca, the construction of a bike path and a low wall or repedrís, as well as the facility installation of furniture center." Doesn't sound very good, we might not get the cycle lane till November, which will be a mistake I think!!!
 
What do you think "the facility installation of furniture centre" means? Openings in wall to bring in sun beds perhaps?

I don't know but perhaps it could be new seating along the front, the existing concrete seats are in need of some T L C ;).

Yup, they're a terrible state and getting worse .... every time someone sit's down it adds another crack :o :eek: :D
