The export to the UK and Scandinavia of Lady Christl new potatoes started on Sunday. The centre of this export in Mallorca is of course Sa Pobla, where exporters still have some concerns because of Brexit uncertainties. Joan Mateu, president of Mateu Export, says that "the flexibility has ended, and we must see how the UK will specify requirements from now on". The UK represents 25% of Sa Pobla's potato export market; "it would be a difficult one to replace".

The climate and the soil create the flavour.....something you could never replicate in the UL, even if you brought the soil with you.

Our nearest Tesco Superstore (Rainham, Essex) had Mallorca (Lady Christi) potatoes in stock (packaged) at least two weeks ago (and very nice they were, too)..
It was a question of better late than never! Mallorca potatoes have finally arrived in Britain, which is their key export market, but this year the crop was hiy [sic] by an almost unbelievable problem for an island known for its weather....a lack of sun.
