The press are now saying that they must still close at 5pm on Fri/Sat and Sun so it's not really that great :(. Monday til Thursday they have to close at 5pm then re-open at 8pm.

Of course this is not official so we will have to wait until Friday.

It's madness closing till 8pm! all because she is frightened of the Tardeos!

Totally agree GG, in my opinion it would be better to allow them to stay open all day until 10pm, this will spread the customers out instead of having them all cramming into a few hours. I also don't see the point in closing at 5pm on the weekends .

The Balearic Government have officially announced the new restrictions from this Saturday.

Curfew 11pm. to 6am. (was 10pm.)

Bars and restaurants: From Monday to Thursday: evening dinner service on terraces from 8pm. to 10.30pm.

Bars and restaurants will have to close by 5pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on the eve of public holidays.

Maximum of four people per table.

Shops can open until 9pm.

Shops can open on given Sundays.

Terraces can open at 100% capacity.

We now have to pray for good weather and hope Armengal doesn't change her mind in the next 24 hours ;).

IMHO its to put off weekend "booze tourism" Sauf Tourismus in S'Arenal /Playa de Palma from Germans

Todays Telegraph reckon the Balearics will be included on the 'Green' List from May 17th!

That's really great news. Unfortunately as a result of ill health its its unlikely we will be going to PP this year.
We do hope that things return to normal as soon as possible for everyone, especially the waiters, bar and hotel owners.
Wishing all the very best to everyone.
Tommo and Mrs T.

Thats a shame Tommo.....hopefully you and your good lady will be back over, sooner than you think!

I’m sick to death of the press reporting what “might” be announced. Endless speculation. Just shut up and report the actual news when it is actually announced. Aaaarreggghhh!

Rant over.

I agree totally with Disorderly. Most news today can be classified as opinion or speculation. Very little actual 'hard news'.

The press are a joke, i read the papers online and sometimes have a good laugh at the ridiculous reporting but there are times i get angry when they print very misleading info.
So often the headlines don't match up with the actual content, my main beef with them these days is the reporting of covid infections, the headline will say how many new infections there have been but when you read the following list of numbers by municipality they don't tally up, often there are only half as many.

I am afraid i my faith and trust in journalists is right up there with politicians, all of them are very careless with the truth and they all have their own agendas :(.

I totally agree with your sentiment Sparky. While we always need a free press, we also need a responsible one. Regretably the two things don't seem to go together.

There is almost as much "fake news" around as there are "fake tans" at present. At least most fake tans will disappear when we can get back to PP but as for fake news!......

Whilst I agree with the above sentiments, there seems to be a new way of releasing Government info in this covid era. They give dates that the next raft of measures will be brought in and in the proceeding days, all of the changes seep out via the press. So when the news is actually released, we already know it!

I can't believe how excited i am to be going out for a drink tonight for the first time in nearly 5 months :D:D.

Lets hope the weather behaves.

Can anybody guess where Sparky is going out for a drink tonight?

Winner gets to foot the bill - well, it's only one drink isn't it??

Enjoy, well deserved - hopefully all will be OK in August!
