Not sure about Stay’s new winter opening hours - last orders at 7pm closing at 8pm. Looks like the menu is changing as well. Not a fan of Stay in the summer as too busy but go in the winter - maybe late lunch will be the order of the day! Also - read elsewhere that they are not opening on New Years Eve. We are never out then but will affect some people.

I saw the e-mail too, about the changed winter opening hours and thought, the closing time was rather early.
It's also explained on the 'News' item on their website for those who didn't get the e-mail.

To be fair to them, I’ve often been in the winter and in the evening there can be less than a dozen occupied tables, so I can understand the decision. It’s a pity though, as we were hoping to go for dinner on my wife’s birthday in February. I shall be very interested to see the reduced menu, apparently with a number of items designed for sharing. Could go one of two ways……we’ll see.

Indeed it can! Quite often I find the sharing plates/tapas are a great size for four sharing but just too big for two, limiting the number of dishes you can try. Stay altered their tapas this year and, whereas before 5/6 dishes were ideal for two to share, now three is about right, and they have less choice.

I thought exactly the same thing that it can be nearly empty some evenings in the winter, so it makes good business sense to have shorter hours. If we’re out we always go there for my birthday….also in February!
I never enjoy it quite so much in the winter sitting inside, as I do in the summer months on the terrace, so it will be a birthday lunch outside for me…. with the heaters on and snuggly blankets if needs be!

The staff at Stay work incredibly hard so hopefully this will give them a better work/ life balance.

The staff are lovely, Debz, and lots of people think that Stay is impersonal, being so large and busy in the summer, but if you go regularly out of season and get to know them, it’s a really friendly place to go. We will definitely consider the birthday lunch option!

It would maybe have been nice if they could open later on a Friday and Saturday only.

Yeah, its a bit of a dramatic change. Obviously its not as nice inside, but its one of the few restaurants open in the winter, so we tend to go a few times. Oh well...maybe we'll try out a couple of Pollensa town options for a change. We have never eaten a meal in the evening there.

There wont be much open up here ( of an evening) in the winter. Font de Gall, Club Pollenca, Portofino, Fuente de Oro, Can Moixet, Om.... maybe Respira, U Placa, La Fonda?? I'll ask.

If you want an atmosphere then U Gallet ?! Crisps and free peanuts/haribos is as far as the catering goes!

Otherwise, If you're stuck, you can pop round ours for Bobs Paella. Its my own recipe, especially for none Spanish folks and those who've never tried Paella... i.e. no clue what it should actually taste like...
