We all love Tapas and eating local food wherever we go.

Always like to find traditional restaurants / bars where the locals eat and drink

Any good places you can recommend would be most appreciated.

We are a party of 6 Adults and 5 kids -Ages 9 , 8 , 6 , 6 ,5
Staying near to the Pine Walk and arriving on the 9th Aug.

Really like this site and registered yesterday.

Many thanks in advance for all replies.

Hi Sean

Welcome to the forum - you're out the same time as me!

If you have a good look through the Frequently Asked Questions topic at the top of the Eating and Drinking Out page, you'll see some recommendations for tapas and Mallorcan food.

You can also use the search function on here - just type in what you're looking for and it will bring up any relevant posts.

Have a great time!

Jane:)

Sean,

Just got in from a marvelous Tapas lunch at Neptuno ( Formentor Rd ) in PP.

Two large plates of Tapas each, a GOOD bottle of Rosados ( up from the housewine) and a couple of cups of coffee . Total bill 21 Euros.

Great value

Off for a siesta now cos it's stinking hot again.

Hi Sean

Like you, I love tapas. Can't speak for Pollensa specifically (as we havnt been for some years), but I'm generally very disappointed with the offerings in Mallorca (and, more generally, throughout the Catalan speaking areas). It simply doesnt seem to be a big a "thing" for the locals as in, say, Andalucia or around Madrid. I have a sense that much is bought in from catering wholesalers rather than being freshly prepared in the bars.

I have my fingers crossed that someone can recommend the exception that proves the rule.

Neptuno sounds great - Will try this one.
L'Oume gets good reviews on here as well.

Off to a good start.

Thanks very muich

tapas

Hi Shinyface, best Tapas and best value we have found is L'illa in the main square in Pollenca old town. Been there 4 times now and never been dissapointed. They have cafe on the front in P.P but we have never tried it although it does Tapas. We are also quite new to the Forum and agree with you what a fantastic tool it is, so much knowledge and information just a click away. We have been going to P.P. for many years but have learnt so much from the forum and its members.

Cheers Slipalong & Lola
Another one to the list.

Will be our 1st time in P.P. - Only heard great reports and no bad feedback from everyone who has been.

Only 23 sleeps - Bring on the Sun

Thanks
Sean

Lunch try El Postio and eat with the local workers good set menu around 9€.

try la fortalesa. from their starters menu you can choose quite a few of the dishes in "tapas" portion eg prawns in light batter (absolutely delicious) as main starter 10 euro but in tapas portion 5 euro, crab crocquettes (as above) 85 cent each etc, its great because for what you could pay for a main starter you can get 2 or 3 smaller versions and have a ball or end up resembling one like me:D:D

the mains r very good also and the children have the choice of usual kiddies menu or from main menu half portions at reduced price.
