Thought i would let all you jazz lovers who are in PP know that El Ancla are starting the Sunday afternoon jazz sessions again this Sunday the 10thMay, weather permitting. El Ancla is situated in Tamarells beach area, next door to the Hotel Romantic. Hope to see some of you there, it's a lovely way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Sorry Pollensa, the music normally starts at about 14.30/ 15. 00.

Sparky,

Can't make tomorrow but hope to get along over the next couple of weeks. Can you let me know if Santiago ( Argentinian ) Alto Sax is playing ??
Great musician, in my book.

BonysLad :)

Hola Bonyslad, i will check it out tomorrow and report back without delay. Hasta pronto amigo.

That's our Sunday afternoon 31st May sorted, so convenient as staying in the Hotel Romantic. Nice cool beer good music and hopefully good weather only 2 weeks and 6 days to go til we fly.

Thanks for info

Jayne

Why do I always read about these events after they've happened, perhaps next week :)

This is not strictly a question regarding Jazz at the Ancla, but are Maria & Jose back from Seville this year?

I didn't make BL got the dreaded lurgy :(, but hubby said only Cacho was there this week. I suppose it's still early in the season and the more there are playing the more it costs.

Sparky,

Thanks, will mosey along over the next couple of Sundays.

Hope you're soon out and about again.

BonysLad :)

Hi, I stand to be corrected but i've never heard anyone comment on the food in the Ancla, which is a pity as i've had some of the best grilled rabbit and Entrecot steak that is second to none.:)

Now you have Pollensfan. Mrs. T reckons that she had the best paella she's ever had in PP when we spent a Sunday afternoon at El Ancla last year. We try to get there a couple of Sundays a year for the jazz and more times through the week. Depending on how hungry we are we always have something to eat and drink and to date, never been dissappointed, bearing in mind the cost.

Totally agree but i am biased and did not want to be accused of having shares in the business. However if you are in a hurry, don't go, it is not a fast food joint.:D

How right you are Sparky. Although it's a lot quicker than it used to be. It reminds me of a time several years ago when my friends and i had been waiting for our food to arrive. The woman on the next table happen to notice the numbers etched in to the concrete over the entrance (1972). She asked her friend in a loud voice if she new what it meant, At which point my friend turned around and said "Thats when i ordered my meal".:)

LOL, that's really funny:D On a Sunday the food can take a long time.....but definitely worth the wait. My Spanish husband has paella all the time in the Ancla, and he loves it - don't think we've ever had a bad one yet.
