Just wondered if there were any recent reports on this restaurant in the Port? It's just that a taxi driver recommended it to us very strongly as being popular with locals (don't know if he had a vested interest!) - when we looked in it certainly seemed popular, and the menu sounded lovely, but it never gets mentioned on this forum. Would welcome any feedback!

Kate, A few years now since my wife and I enjoyed a meal in Hibiscus. Always seemed quiet, but great service and quality. Perhaps an aqcuired taste.

Jimbo, You've come out of hibernation:D

Kate, There are some comments on Hibiscus somewhere on the forum, it's a delightful restaurant and i would thoroughly recommend it. Never understood why people sit outside on steamy hot nights when there is lovely air-coditioned luxury such as this.

Smiddy,

Agree so much, if it is hot and humid go inside and enjoy the air con etc. Steamy hot nights are o.k. but to us, now just a nuisance!!!

cheers,

jimbo

We ate there on our first night last year it was very good good value set menu think it was about €15 for 3 courses plus drink hadn't gone up from the year before, staff very nice

Kate ,

Hold the front page cos decided to give this place a whirl today whilst enjoying a pre prandial pint at Stay in today's lovely sunshine.

Not disappointed one bit with the MDD at 16.90 euros per head ( including a drink).

Nice friendly staff bought freshly baked roll . I had ravioli in tomato sauce ( delice ) and BLT had calamari. Both followed up with Suckling Pig ( portions right size for us i.e. not humundous ) and nicely cooked . Finished with creme caramel and creme brulee.

Total bill including bottle of rosados , small beer ( we don't do single drinks !!! ) and a coffee was 40 Euros for two.

So nice restaurant, nice staff and good value food.

Don't think you'd be disappointed .

BonysLad :):)

They say a mans's contentment is measured by the Richter Scale of his snoring !!!

BonyLadette says I've been snorting like a warthog for three hours in the sun this p.m. Happy days

We go to the hibiscus a lot, especially in the winter when some of our other favourites are closed. Have never been disappointed with the food or service. For those of you with children, they are very child friendly - really lovely family that run it. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Hibiscus always used to be the Haut Cuisine of PP in the 70's - sounds like it has more of a Mallorcan menu these days - would that be right?

Many thanks for all this feedback - will definitely give it a go next time we are out.

We have been to Hibiscus many, many times over the years and have always had good food at good prices but the last time we were there really put us off.

I cant remember exactly what happened but it went along the lines of one of the kids didnt want xxx with their dinner and we asked if they could get a corn on the cob instead of xxx. That was fine but when the bill arrived they had charged 7euros for the corn on the cob which was more than the childs meal in itself. There was another thing wrong with the bill that night (cant quite remember what) but it seemed to us that they thought because we were two British families all having a good time, drinking wine, lagers and having fun that they could take the mick with their prices.

We had a bad meal at Hibiscus a couple of years ago - cant remember all details but I know the Frito Mallorquin was inedible and the pork chops were greasy and pale and also inedible - I know we should have complained but it was our last night and we just decided never to go back again - with so much choice of restaurants, we dont need to risk it!!:(
