Thanks to Jaime at O'lume, I've found my new favourite after dinner drink.
Used to always have a Amaretto or a carajillo, but now its 43 all the time. It's a lovely sweet liquor, really smooth. Got a bottle while we were out there(about 14 euro) which just about saw out the holiday(sure the wife was putting it on her cornflakes) and we brought a bottle home which is going down well(gunna have to get the marker pen out) and bringing back all the memories. If you havent already, try it its lovely:D

43 liqueur

Yes 43 is one of my favourites too. Often pick up a bottle at the airport when I'm leaving esp if it's on offer! :)

I expect I am the last to spot this but I noticed a sign on the airport shop in Palma, saying that you can also buy in there when you arrive.

Totally agree cuarenta y tres is lovely I discovered it a few years back in Balaixa just to let you kow you can buy it in the UK from Asda about £13 they starting stocking it about 2 years ago which i was very glad about as my bottle purchased from duty free did not last very long !!!

No not coffee Bella it is a golden colour and is very sweet and its quite hard to describe the taste but i think it tastes like apricot/honey flavour but with ice it is delicious yum yum

Jaime also introduced me to this drink last year.We brought some home from the airport and have since had to ask friends to bring us some back from their travels as we have been unable to source it as yet in the UK.If anybody knows of any stockists I would be most grateful.

Bella - i would hate to have you make me a coffee:eek:

Amaretto is almond;)

Thanks GG I have learnt something new today too!
I'm sure Bella knew that Amaretto is almond - I didn't though - probably because i haven't had the need to really think about it lol But I know now!

LOL! Thanks for being gentle with me! Yes, of COURSE I knew it was almond, which I love - I have no idea why my fingers typed coffee at the time, Tia Maria was getting muddled up in my mind at the same time!
GG, I do a great instant so you'll be safe!:D
elaine, will just have to try it to find out!;)

This works very well in a 'Tubo' (tubular) glass:
Ice
A measure of 43
Limon

Pour 43 over ice, leave to cool for about 10 mins

Pour in Limon slowly so it jeeps separated.
Drink the 43 through the Limon,
Delicious.

I would describe it as having a vanilla/caramel type flavour

Wizzrd :)

Is it anything like Pacharan (really not sure how to spell that !) Someone introduced me to that last year and it was lovely with ice. Jaime does have a habit of knowing what we like so BD we may need to give it a go on the 10th !

After reading about L 43 i tried to purchase it in all the main supermarkets but none of them seemed to stock it.I eventually sourced a bottle in a private off licence, they charged me £19.95 for the bottle which i thought a bit steep but in the interest of research i purchased it.
Had a sip and it is VERY nice in fact too nice.It is very sweet and the first thing that hits you is how smoothit is with a wonderful spicey vanilla taste followed by a powerful burst of alcholol when swallowing. Then a lovely vanilla aftertaste.
Word of warning this bevarage is very easy on the palate and at 32% volume is very strong stuff.I know as i consumed half the bottle and boy oh boy have i been suffering with the mother of all headaches today.

Very nice poured over ice cream!!!!

Morrisons do it too. If you pick up a jar of Allioli while you are there you could almost imagine you are back in PP!.

Adios

Dave

Our local Co-op has been sold to Morrisions. After a 2 month revamp it opens tomorrow. Our first purchase is the above mentioned Allioli -£1 a tub - don't recall the name but in a yellow pot with 4 'tabs' on the lid to open it. Eroski stock it. It almost tastes as good as that in Bar Coral!

A milkshake for the adults only is a measure or two of 43 in a glass of cold milk.I thought this strange beyond belief until my milkoholic partner tried it.Would probably make a good homemade ice cream too.Our favorite is always with coke and ice.The duty free at the airport for the last couple of years have been doing a good deal when you buy a pack of two litre bottles.
