You certainly have opened a can of worms here mwc! A good discussion for an interesting thread addition dividing the camp yet again. Think I'll pack sandwiches! LOL!

Great stuff enjoyed reading all that,but I now have a problem.In my humble opinion Stay is the "best" restaurant in PP and I'm sure I voted it "top" after my last visit but El Posito is probably my favourite restaurant.Hopefully I'll make it this year and be able to ponder on this dilemma!

That is a very good point. Its hard to get a restaurant that has top marks for every catagory, even though its a fabulous restaurant there can always be a little something in another restaurant that makes you feel extra special, and therefore becomes your favourite. Another good reason for stating what you like best in each of your top 5!

This thread will always be of interest but should be entitled "THE FIVE MOST POPULAR RESTAURANTS IN P.P." and NOT the five "TOP" restaurants.
a.) Not all forum members go in all restaurants (almost impossible in P.P. dozens of them)
b.) What might be 'TOP' to some is definately not 'TOP' to others.
c.) Many people 'shun' what one may call the Top Restaurants due entirely to cost, especially if they have families and/or are on a budget. Others spend wildly.
d.) Some 'shun' quality establishments due to inverted snobbery.
I do fully realise that some of the smaller establishments can give very good value for money and that being 'flash' or being 'expensive' does not make a good/top restaurant. Good service and cleanliness is also very important and in P.P. the sea/mountain views can be important to some as well; both by day and by night.
So do realise this is a list of 'MOST POPULAR RESTAURANTS' and not necessarily 'THE TOP' ones.
What is good for the 'goose' is not always good for the 'gander'.
"I wish you all good eating, good service and conviviality in P.P. for 2011, enjoy yourselves".

Thanks for a good common sense approach.

No idea what's going on here but does seem a bit petty. Here we are nearly on page 3 not even a week into the year and all this!
Does it really matter that much about the use of a word in a thread and who the thread 'belongs' to? Fed up already!

To be fair Kym there have been some good points made if you take time to sift through! Just ignore the bits that make you fed up - and then when you get "fed up" () at various restaurants and want to contribute, come on back in again!
Most of its just a bit of fun and blowing off steam anyway whilst waiting for our hols!

I have a dilema

I really want to post here as soon as I can but I know the rules say I can only post in places I have actually eaten in during 2011........ but when I come over in March I only have 3 days and even I can't eat in 5 favourite restaurants in 3 days ..... also I will only be able to eat in the places that are open ......... so am I allowed to post my favourites "to date" in March and then give you all the pleasure of "cdfavourites2" in April and "cdfavourites3" in July , closely followed by "cdfavourites4" in September and if I am really lucky I will beat Die Hard and have a "cdfavourites5" to offer you by October

A bit unnecessary guys! mwc - really - no one has said its a bad idea have they? Or have I missed something? I'm sure everyone will be a contributor when they have been out to PP and at the moment are just kicking their heels.
I for one am glad you DID bother and will do my best to visit 5 restaurants and give relevant marks.

Belladonna, I am not saying that, it just really gets under my skin the way that now a days you have to say or word everything, in some peoples eyes a certain way, incase somebody is offended or it is not 'politically correct'. As I have said before, this thread run last year for a number of months without any hassle. At the end of the day it is thread about the 5 favourite, best, enjoyable, top, whatever restaurants in Puerto Pollensa for gods sake.
