Car park on the sea front

Following on from Bella´s recent tale of woe regading her (husband´s) speeding fine, I too regretfully must announce that the law has caught up with me !

I parked in the sea front car park in May last year just after the new 2 hour parking limit had been imposed. I do recall returning to my car and finding a note on the windscreen saying that a new system had been introduced and only 2 hours free parking was permitted. I didn´t have a ticket on display and was told that I needed to display a ticket in future.

I am sure that I posted at that time to warn other users, but thought no more of it.

Well now the long arm of the law has caught up with me and I received a fine in the post for 60€ from the IB Ports. As you can imagine I am not best pleased as it didn´t even mention a fine on the note I had on the windscreen - I thought it was purely for information purposes - how wrong I was ! I can´t believe how long it has taken either - Bella´s speeding fine was in September and she got her notice a few weeks ago - mine was in May and I live in the Port and got it yesterday !

This is just to warn others that if you too received a "helpful note" on your car throughout last summer, you may be in for a surprise! I have tried to speak to the chap in the IB Port office in the Marina, but he says these matters are out of his control and he is unaware of why the fines are being issued now - well I think I can guess !!!!!!!

Off to Sa Nostra now to pay my dues

Oh poor you.:( They really are chasing up on things aren't they? Nothing we can moan about though, as we were breaking the law and must be punished accordingly! :o Is this a sign of a tougher police awareness all round in the port I wonder? Anyway, off you hop and do the dutiful thing! ;)

Blimey UATW, it beggars belief that it can take that long to decide to send you a fine, especially as you didn't even get a proper "ticket". I bet there are a few more surprises in the post for some poor unsuspecting motorists .
Thank you for letting us know, as fore-warned is fore-armed, be careful everyone and remember the "blue zones" are due to make a comeback this May, they have to fill the coffers somehow :(.

returned to UK for visit last week to find 2 hefty speeding tickets, (not that I have been driving the hired car was in my name, my husband states it must have been me lol,- they were in my name) both identical places, motorway between palma and pollensa, one november one december, just arrived February same envelope!
Decided to pay them on line to be safe! - so all you drivers watch out!!

Two!! Oh unlucky Penny! Sounds as if it was the same camera that we got caught too. They came through a lot quicker for you though, which I'm hoping means we were not caught in November as well as the September one! We paid on line the same day and even got a discount for quick payment! How on earth does that work when it was a September fine?! We will certainly all be more aware of cameras now that could be hidden - especially under bridges!

...........Have a look at the Map I previously posted.

Proposed Locations

The map gives accurate Km positions and the direction of travel for each camera.

I have checked the locations between Palma and PP and have found the information accurate, and other proposed cameras are now installed.

Does anyone have an update on this map? or can confirm other locations?

Speeding and parking fines = easy revenue !!!!

Be warned !!!!

And the story of Spanish bureaucracy gets better....... Sa Nostra can only take cash payments on a Thursday between 9 and 10.30

Tomorrow is a public holiday for Balearic Day and so I can´t pay the fine until next week and then I am too late for the 40% discount (even though it has taken them since May to send the notice to me )

As they say on TOWIE sshuuuuuuuttttt uuuuuuppppp !!!!

:mad::confused::rolleyes::mad:

Love Towie being an Essex girl UATW!

Cash Thursday between 9-10.30 only! So silly it sounds a wind up! Certainly unfair to penalise you again for them being shut and their delay in fining you! Crazy!

Are you able to perhaps pay online? I think I would do anything to keep that 40% but knowing the Balearics they won't make it easy for you.
Good luck! and if I was you I wouldn't sssshhhhhuuuuuuuuuutttt uuuuuuupppppp!
I would be very angry with them!

Yes ... Pay on line!!! Thats how those of us have to do it back in the UK, so dont see why you cant as well ... especially when a discount is at stake!! Get those fingers tapping .. and good luck!! ;)

Check the ticket details again as to where you can pay the fine, surely it is not just bank that accepts these fines for payment!!, there are normaly four or five banks.

Majprop, you definitely can only pay the fine in Sa Nostra bank, hubby had a fine last year.
Not sure if you can pay on-line if you are a resident, can anyone tell us?.

Actually, that is a good point. Fines from traffic offences are through car hire companies who automatically send details of hire through to relevant agencies for any driving infringement.
It seems really strange though if residents cannot pay on line, after all, it's obviously already set up to receive payments that way.

UATW, you can also pay on a Tuesday between the same times if that helps get you the discount.

On the front page of today's Daily Buletin they have published a map showing the positions of the new cameras, including road numbers. :-

The MA-2200 Pollensa/ Sa Pobla @ 50.25km.
" MA-12 Alcudia/ Arta @ 24.2km.
" MA-13 Alcudia/ Sa Pobla @ 46.4km.
" MA-14 Manacor/ Felanitx @ 19.3km.
" MA-15 Manacor/ Sant Llorenc @ 52.6km.
" MA-4020 Manacor/ Porto Cristo @ 5.2km.
" MA-19 Llucmajor/ Campos @ 30.1km.
" MA-1 Andratx/ Palma @ 22.9km.

There are loads of mobile ones out and about, and the Guardia Civil have an unmarked silver puegeot too.The govt. have just put petrol up 5cents alitre so maybe that will slow the locals down!!!!They also are linking up with DVLC to get access to foreign driver's licences if they comit offences whilst using hire cars! But of course they're only interested in our safety, not making money!!!:(

I certainly hope so, there has already been 6 fatalities on the islands roads and i would hate to think any of our members were added to that total. :(
