Advise, and a bit of pointing in right direction please

Hi Guys,
We were in the port last April for 8 days at the Daina Appartments, and fell in love with the place.

This year we would like to have a look in August (Missus works at school, so dont really have any other option if we want to go in the Summer).

The Playa Mar looks lovely (especially as we have a 3 year old, will be 4 in August), and it would be so nice if we could afford to do all inclusive, but to be fair if we are going to do it, its going to have to be on a budget again.

So I am wondering what would be the best value for money - A hotel, or rent an appartment or villa with a pool.

I have had a look in the section on here at the apartments and some of them really do look lovely.

I have already been on Martin Lewis's flight checker and it would seem there are cheap flights available, so its just a case of choosing somewhere to stay.

So we are looking for something with a pool, 2 bedrooms, and ideally at the pine walk end (but could be flexible in this).

We have always opted for apartment/villa even when my daughter was very small. The supermarkets and small shops can provide everything you need and there is just so much choice in the port for eating out too..

Your most reasonable priced option would be somewhere like the Daina apartments, Maricel, Flora or the Puerto Azul. A villa with a pool in high season would cost in most cases in excess of £2000 for a week without flights. Most of the independent apartments in the pine walk area do not have the use of a pool only the Bellresguard (spelling) as far as I am aware are in the pine walk area with a pool and they are not in the budget price bracket. Not sure if you looked at the Playa Mar whilst you were in the area before it is very family orientated but quite a long walk from the resort centre. A lovely area though and a very pleasant walk into town. If you decide to go with an individual apartment the pool at Laguna is in the area,

The Villa Concha does look nice.
In the process of working out budget, but it maybe doable even for 10 days.

We stay close to Villa Concha ideal for little great area, short walk to the beach, when our girls were younger they loved the walk along beach wall on an evening. Might be worth emailing hotel direct for price.

Have previously stayed in Villa Concha some time ago and it is perfect for young children and the location is ideal.. friends who stayed there in October were told to contact them direct for quotes if they were thinking of returning

We called in when we were out in PP in October. There were plans displayed showing some new building and refurbishment to be done during the winter. It was mainly to provide services to cyclists and/or cycle racing teams.
Perhaps someone 'on the ground' has up to date news of this popular accommodation?

Hi, Watson, you could also use the search facility in the Villas/Apts to Rent on the website. Please forgive me if you've already done this a million times!! But here's how I'd go about finding a private rental:
- I would use the Advanced Search facility and enter in 2 bedrooms, Air conditioning, and swimming pool as your criteria. I, personally, would also select Apartment - as the villas are more expensive and it reduces the amount to look through. If you know your travel dates, put those in too.

Then select which area you want - i.e. Pine Walk, Central/Marina, or South Beach and do your search. The list will be very long (particularly for Pine Walk) but you can narrow it down by either:
- selecting Map View, and looking at where you might want to be
- the 2 bedroom options are likely to be less expensive
OR
- using the List View and just scanning down to see what rates are within your budget.
- for August it will be the higher rate
- then check out the details and availability
- and location

Make sure you read the details carefully - as much for what is not said as for what is! For instance, some places say they have air-conditioning but it may only be for some of the rooms. For us, air-conditioning is a must in August! Also, we found that, much though we love being out at the Illa d'Or end of the Pine Walk, in the August heat it was simply too far to walk into town, which is where the best choice of places to eat is.

I agree with Bean Counter in the fact that although Illa d'Or area is lovely it is a bit far to walk (especially with a wee one) in the heat. I personally would choose Pinaret area. It's not too far from the restaurants and shops and it can be lovely and shady in the heat of the day with all the trees. Once again Villa Concha springs to mind. Good luck in your search

The Villa Concha is certainly undergoing a huge amount of work at the moment, with diggers working non stop in the area outside the main front door (very peaceful!). Theres also work continuing at the Montelin across the road too.

Hoposa is certainly investing a lot of money as they are building a training complex and spa for triathletes in what was the car park at the villa Concha?
Should be a great addition to the Port especially out of season.

Another vote for villa concha our friends stayed there in July this year with their children ages 8 and 6 . It was their first time in the port and they loved the location and facilities for the children.they booked directly and got a better deal this way .

How did you find the diana apartments. We are staying there for 11 nights at the beginning of April. Our in laws are staying in the hotel, we are in the apartments. Any info would be great! Thanks.

The Valentin Puerto Azul is very good. It's a stones throw away from pine walk,the beach and the Square. Their rooms have separate bedroom and living room area, with fridge, table and chairs, so more roomy than a hotel room on it's own. Entertainment for children throughout the day. Staff very friendly. We still call in and visit when in P.P, even though our daughter is twenty three now! We tend to stay in apartments on the front now, but that can be quite pricey, especially in August. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find just the right place.

Sorry for late reply varsp - and I am sure this will be no good to you as you are likely already there, but we really liked it.

Quick update on our situation. We had to put the holiday idea on a back burner, but it maybe back on again so we are now looking at options again.
Still like the idea of the Vila Concha.
Does anyone know if all the work is now complete or likely to be by August?
And also only just read the comments on the Puerto Azul ApartHotel, anybody have any thoughts on how it compares to the Vila Concha?
We are thinking that we may go half board to keep the cost of food down, so would be interested on opinions of food at Vila Concha also?

Hi all,
Apologies for not updating this sooner, but we didnt manage to get over last year.
Have just discovered that I could be getting a half decent bonus at work so I am looking at ways that we could get over this year.

Still like the idea of the Villa Concha, but have looked at some of the apartments on here and I am thinking the only advantage is the kids entertainments, and the half board or bed and breakfast.

I realise people cannot post here on recommendations of kid friendly apartments, but if anyone can pvt message me that would be excellent.

We are so eager to get back over to PP.
