Thanks lollipop. Always good to know of a good Bodega. Have made a couple of very bad off road visits in the past! :o

Never visited but yes - Stairway to Heaven is very good to my taste, and we actually bought one at the Fira and brought it home to England!

Will have to visit the vineyard next time - I gather C'an Vidalet on the Pollenca to Alcudia road is also worth a visit.

Really? Prepared to name the guilty parties? (Don't expect they'll read this forum!)

The strange one we found ourselves at was just outside Consell. We followed a sign and found ourselves in a rustic run down place, which was fine at first, just one old lady to show us through to a dank dark place which did not have a good smell, she had us tasting a few wines from various barrels, which were worse than awful! The children couldn't wait to escape! We couldn't bring ourselves to buy anything it was all so disgusting!

As you all know hubby and myself only drink white wines and a couple of weeks ago Toni in El Posito got us to try a bottle of Butxet from Muro, it needs to be served very cold but we really enjoyed it :).

I concur with mopezone and lollipop our favourites from last years Fira were Mortitx Flaires and Stairway to heaven.

Please could one of you confirm that this years wine fair was in the Cloisters? The photo in the latest edition of TOTN didn't look like the Cloisters
Gutted to have missed it this year, it's such a great day :)

Hi Debz1 - yes it was in the usual place, usual layout, usual price (!) ie 10 euros including 3 euros off a purchase.

I have to say, this is one of my favourite events of the whole year and look forward to the next one as soon as it's over!

Now I'm not an alky by any means, but this year I discovered that in the same week there was also a beer festival in Palma, with a lot of corporate rubbish on offer, but also a surprising number of craft beers from Mallorca.

And the weekend after the Fira in Pollenca, there was a wine festival in Binissalem too, in a different format but a wine festival none the less - I think next year I might have to go on the wagon for Lent in preparation for all this fun!

I've tried Stairway to Heaven in the past and found it a bit alcohol heavy, over extracted fruit and a little out of balance - perhaps I need to try it again:D

They do two Stairway to Heaven Reds, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Shiraz. They also do a white which 2 of my daughters like. Then they do another red called Montesion which is 3 grapes. I was listening !!!!!

I was referring to the Sauvignon Blanc white in my post, but I'm not sure which one GG was talking about!

I think it must have been what is now the Montesion as I am sure it was a blend and at the time I think it was the only Stairway to Heaven red:)

Just checked - the 2013 Stairway to Heaven Sauvignon Blanc is a very reasonable 12.5, and I recommend it!
