A marathon walk.

Yesterday, the most amazing Ultratrail Mallorca took place in the Serra de Tramuntana, and not many people gave it much attention apart from close friends and family members. There were perhaps 1,800 participants walking, running, ambling and limping the 105 kilometres between Andratx and Pollença, with the best able ones beating themselves in just over eleven hours, all satellite tracked from high above and chip controlled from down below. I think it is amazing what goes on here on the island and what a shame that most of us are not aware of half the going-ons, most of the time.

Hi Sparky, really excellent link to the MD article. Thanks for keeping us informed.
A really good write up about lots of other things as well as the 'mountain marathon'.
Also some brilliant photo's to go with it. Yes, Mallorca is a very diverse and a very interesting island. Hope to get over to PP again sometime soon to see even more of it myself.

I'm shaking just at the thought of it................that's what, 60 ish miles ???
Running up and down mountains......................1,800 insane people or robots.............bad enough doing it in a car !!!

We were recently sitting up in the Bougier(sp) Valley enjoying the view when a couple of these guys passed us, must have been in training. Unbelieveable fitness, didn't think it was humanly possible to run up there.
