Hello, we're heading out this weekend and have a question someone might be able to answer - I'm just wondering how long it takes to get through the airport on the way back to the UK? We always allowed 2 1/2 hours, but we haven't been out since Covid and the Brexit "changes" and I have read stories of people missing flights home. We're thinking of booking the transfer transport a bit earlier. Has anyone any experience of going through on a Friday afternoon at the moment?
Thanks.

Not Friday afternoon but for flight at 12 noon
We were through checkin, security and passport stamping in around 30 minutes. So 3 hours could be about right for the afternoon.

We flew back last Thursday (5pm flight) and had allowed the usual 2 hours. I don't know if we were just lucky but no delays at check-in or security. At the border control point in terminal A there were 3 booths manned and my wife and were their only customers.

I think a lot of it is luck - time of day, number of flights etc.

Arrived later than planned due to EJ flight delay at about 10pm, there was a massive queue at passport control, and as a result the e gates were opened for passengers over 18, who could swipe on through and get stamped, if required. Being holiday time, loads of families with children had to queue for manual inspection, but we were through in half an hour. Well organised and smooth enough.
