Being in the throws of a marriage break up, does anyone visit PP alone?

If you do, where do you go to eat, drink, socialise, etc.

I have no problem witj going to Martins (C'an ferrar) on my own but wondered... just don't know really

Zelada, can we have a sad face please

GG

Oh thats a really sad post GG. Not good at this time of night. Im sure anywhere you are used to going with friendly waiters is fine for anyone. Get chatting with waiters at a bar and others will surely join in. Probably not a helpful post, sorry, Im sure there will be more specific replies.:(

Thanks Bella - having been used to holidaying in PP with the family for over 20 years it is going to be difficult to adapt - I will obviously come over with the kids (young adults) from time to time but I will have to come over on my own sometimes a just want to know...Yes, read the posts - Jk's, bar cultural, etc, just go to adapt

GG

Sorry GG, i cant help much, i'd just like to say how sorry i am to hear about your break up. Tho i'm sure there are loads of places to make good friends in PP. Good luck m8.

What a shame GG. Am afraid I only have the 'smilies' provided - there is a frown!

I'm out on my own for a few days in September although fortunately not in the same circumstance. I thought it would be good for my to try it on my own. :o As a female I think I'd find it difficult to eat out in the evening on my own but I can do cafes & lunches. I've sat in the bar at La Llonja because it's nice & peaceful looking out over the water but you may prefer somewhere more lively. When you are next out, do post to the 'Who's in PP' thread & say that you're looking for company - I'm sure someone else from the forum will be glad to meet up. :)

Sorry to hear your news GG :(

Sure you will be fine in PP on your own. I often eat out alone when I am away on business and I have noticed over the past 15 years or so that attitudes have changed and no-one even bats an eye now if you are on your own.

I remember years ago being terribly embarassed and being "hidden away" at corner tables by well meaning waiters but not now. I always take a book and order a large glass of wine. Sorted. Quite often the staff will chat to you or other diners. I once got invited to join the table by a Woman's Institute at a hotel in Inverness - but that's another story.

One of the reasons why we all love PP is the friendly local people and the friendly other tourists. I can't think of a single night out where someone hasn't chatted to us - in a bar or a restaurant or shop. Can you? I sometimes start the night by saying to my husband - "ok - don't start blethering tonight!"

I remember one holiday at La Singala there were 2 ladies there on their own (separately.) We all got blethering and really hit it off that year (every year we still see a couple that we met then!) One of the ladies was there following a marital break up and we all went out of our way to make sure she had a great holiday. I remember the last night with Sangria and feet in the pool... Some of the folks even paid to upgrade her flight home to club class as a surprise.

So ... keep your chin up and don't worry about holidaying alone. Yes it will be different but it will still be good. You'll see PP in a whole new way.

Hugs,

Lala :)

Hi GG, so sorry to hear of your break up. I really don't think you need to worry over here, there is always someone to have a natter with. :D

Sorry to hear your news, but like Sparky says don't think anywhere a problem in PP. Last year we had drinks couple of nights at Panorama Golden Beach opp Pollensa Park, met a few people holidaying on there own for one reason or another. Entertainment low key but gets you talking thats the main thing. Met nice lady from Glasgow she often ate at Sparrow Bar or Golden Lion and said she would defo come back again.

PP alone.

Sorry to hear that GG! I find people are much more inclined to dump any shyness on holiday, people naturaly want to speak to each other, free of any pretensions or hang-ups they have at home!

Don't forget the most important element is YOU! get talking, don't wait until your approached, don't know if take a glass of wine, but it certainly helps break down the barriers.

A very sad, but brave post GG!

Thank you al for your kind words and support.

Smiddy - you need to look at my profile - forget the glass just pass the bottle!!

Time to rebuild and try many new places in PP and probably get to know the kids far better.

Probably now have time to learn to sail properly over there - I can do my own thing!

GG - I would say PP is one of the friendliest places to be on your own. Due to business and my wife working at at a school, we often find ourselves out here on our own or a few days either side of a holiday break. Get yourself down to Mulligans on a Friday/Saturday during the season and you will have a great time. Also Bar Ancla on a Sunday lunchtime is a chilled out place to be on your own - you will soon get talking to like minded souls!

GG - meant to add:-just get out there and try not to be too subconscious about your situation. Same goes for the beach, lots of people go on their own, especially the locals so get rid of that Britishness and enjoy yourself. I have a mate in Harpenden who is recently widowed so next time I'm in town I will pm you to see if you are up for a beer!

Can I just say that this post really highlights what a great site this is. For GG to feel able to set up such a post, and to receive so much support and friendship, really defines the site.

For sure, we don't always agree about everything, but whether it is restaurant reviews, pleas for help, or car hire tales of woh, this is the place to be. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.

GG, I really wish you well and I'm sure that you will visit PP and have a great time.

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this unique site.

Duncan

Well said Duncan! Well done GG!
I'm sure if you post when you are going to be in PP there will be lots of offers for drinks & meet ups.

Thanks Wob - I will hold you to that :D

and 'yes' Cheryl I will definately be posting when I will next be out in PP to hopefully meet up with some of the fellow posters on here and put faces to names.

Duncan - it is like an extended family :)
