Just a quick enquiry, please. We have a Villa Plus booking and they use Avis for car hire (who I've used several times before, and have been absolutely fine).

Can anyone tell me if the Avis desk in the baggage hall is still unmanned, with a sign directing you to go straight to the office in the car park?

Thanks so much.

Just a week to go! :) Already booked Brisa Marina for the first night.

We use them loads, and always collect our car from the office in the car park.

Avis in Palma Airport

We used Avis in March and had to do the paperwork in the office in the baggage hall. Thought we had got a good deal until they hit us with an extra 10 euros per day for the 'all inclusive insurance' and then discovered that there was IVA on top as well.
The extra insurance per day was almost as much as the daily cost of the car.

Might be worth checking out insurance 4 carhire, here.

Discount Car Hire - Mallorca - Majorca - Palma Airport

Costs £38.99 for 12 months cover for the little extras that the carhire firms stick you with at the end of filling in the paperwork, just when you are vunerable.:(

Only caveat would be to make extra certain you check and enter on the rental document any damage when you collect the car.

They may also make a point of having a good look for any subsequent damage on the vehicles return, though Hiper this summer just took the keys with a cursory enquiry if everything was ok and was the fuel topped up.

I think they may have gained a repeat customer:)

I had a claim a couple of years ago for a damaged repeater light on the wing mirror. I paid Record and submitted the claim to insurance4carhire. They reimbursed me before my creditcard billing date. Such service deserves support. They too gained a repeat customer:)

car hire

Just a small tip it's cheaper for you to opt for return with tank full & fill it right up in p.p. before you leave for the airport it will still be full when you arrive cos they do a full check when you check it back in .jeffmac

I personally really like Avis - The cars are always new, nice models and are very well presented.

The only thing that the insurance does not cover is tyres and glass, which, when you see people "off-roading" in their Fiestas in the mountains around Soller, I do kind-of understand.

Recently I flew into PMI very late, and was surprised to learn that Avis closes at midnight.

I have wanted to try Sixt for a while, and having chosen them as a 24 hour operation, I have to say that I was very impressed. Competitive price, Full to Full, a choice of (desirable) new cars along with very efficient collection and return.

I had a very good experience and will use them again.

Thanks so much all of you for your advice - much appreciated.

I have had an insurance4carhire policy for a while now and it has saved me a load of money......thankfully no claims to date, but reasurring to hear of such good service.

Thanks again.
