They are not looking very happy are they. The seem to be looking at the nest and thinking that it needs a lot of work doing to make it a comfortable home. I dont know if I can stand another trauma with their eggs failing to hatch and seeing her sitting there patiently day after day with nothing to show at the end of it all!

Rosie i also wondered if they are new tenants and are trying to agree on a different lay out or colour scheme ;).

Hope it's a different pair and that they have more luck than the last two.

I wonder where they go in winter - do they migrate to sunnier climes? I dont think I can bear to watch this year and will just keep up to date via PP forum;)

I wonder where they go in winter - do they migrate to sunnier climes? ...

from the German website (via Google Translate - slightly edited) -
Störche überwintern in Bayern | LBV

Some white storks have shaped a new trend in recent years, saving the flight over the sea gulf of Gibraltar and wintering in Spain. The reduced length of the flight also results in shifts in their behavior ... Even white storks from former breeding or nursing stations have departed the flight behavior and fend for themselves in Bavaria.
...
The White Stork as a classic migrant usually spends the winter semester in Africa. As a glider, the storks avoid the Mediterranean Sea and fly either to East and South Africa via Turkey, Israel or Egypt, or they turn westwards across Spain and Gibraltar to West Africa.

Thanks Mike - just hope their long journey back to Germany is worth is for them this year:)

Just checked and caught adult stork standing over 4 chicks and one unhatched egg. Good news at last!

I too will be addicted to this now

Great news! However, four chicks plus one more unhatched egg, plus two adults. It's going to get a bit crowded up there in a about a months time, I'm afraid
