Not sure he was big enough to go walk about!

Think it's strange they build their nests on the floor as they are very exposed to things like rats on the ground  Oh dear I hope I'm wrong

Mum's back....no Victor :(

I'm meant to be helping Chels in the garden but I'm glued to the webcam!

Saw the dad being quite "pushy" about getting Vic out of the nest. I thought he was just being a pushy parent ~ hope it was nothing more sinister!:(

Just picked up this thread I think we have a sad situation here. The camera angle has changed in the last 5 minutes more away from the nest to a longer view of the enclosure I think mum and dad are in the background and the chick, 'stone', in the foreground. So hope I'm wrong.

This is normal if the parents decide that the chick is weak or ill and unlikely to survive. They wouldn't encourage it to leave the nest at such a young age.
Poor old Victor? I'm still not convinced that the 'white rock' is the corpse though, so where did he go?

I wonder if the people that work there came in and took him and knocked the webcam a bit which is why we are getting a different view

Mmm - When I checked the webcam yesterday morning I was also a bit worried as the chick seemed to lbe ying flat on his tummy and not moving and 'mum' was standing guard but did not look too happy:( (I know, how can you tell if a vulture is happy or not ......)

Webcam wasn't available this morning

On a happier note - Herr Stork is being very affectionate towards Frau this morning:):)

Saw that, hopefully they will relocate it and share it again! Shouldn't feel too sad about the chick, thats what happens in nature and may be why they need protecting, if all broods were successful we would be knee deep in vultures! :(

I agree sws it is sad but that's nature :(

What's strange was the chick looked so healthy and was getting bigger by the day. I wonder whether the parents sensed it was ill and threw it out of the nest ( the rock ;)) or whether something took it. I've searched for a website for the Foundation and was going to ask my daughter to write to see if we could find out what happened, but I can't find anything.

Will there be a memorial service for "Victor", do you think??

Hmmmm, A memorial service for victor. Good point !. perhaps we should all have a stork about it, but folk might think we are raven mad. How about a burial service in canary wharf, folk could fly over on a budgie et Airline, although I've heard the local funeral director is a Robin so and so. Still I had better not crow on as some folk might think the subject is not very Pheasant.:)

Such a shame, definitely think it was the dad making the decision after seeing him being so aggressive to the chick the other day. :( Back to stalking the storks then! :o

A church service would be nice for victor after all he would have been a bird of prey, bless him.
