Friends of ours ate there there Thursday night..very disappointed...husband ordered the dick which he said was awful and his wife ordered steak..she also asked for it well done (she also likes it medium)...it came back very rare so she sent it back.By the time it was returned the vegetables etc were cold.Their teenage son and his friend had ordered the stuffed aubergines and the pork and I think they were ok..We had though of trying it but were put off.

Sorry CathB but how much dick do you get in a pound. LOL

Sorry Pollensa but could not let a Gem like that go.

Went here twice during our holidays. As perrenial MDD chasers the first time we went it was fantastic. With a bottle of wine in the MDD along with olives and bread the value for money couldn't be eaten.

As it was so good the first time we returned with friends a couple of nights ago. This time it was poor with three well done steaks ordered all three were presented medium rare. The childrens chicken croquettes were so poor that we asked to change it to the burger which took twenty minutes to come.

Hit'n'miss.

Ordered steaks well done?!!!

Full marks to the chef...a man of taste.

Disorderly, did you not state in the Los Zarzales thread that its all about personal taste?

You were right, it is all about taste. The customers.

Can andreu

What I did forget to say was that whatever the white wine was we got for our MDD, it was really nice

Sorry Rab! No offence intended! But there is a serious point behind my remark.

My general experience is that however you order steak, it will usually be cooked for longer than you requested.....so...

Rare = Medium rare
Medium rare = Medium
Medium = Well done
Well done = welcome to the crematorium

Your experience is, I think, unusual. Of all the very basic things chefs do, omlettes and steaks reveal the true amateurs!

Steak is difficult. It shouldnt be, but it is.

In the UK, it's almost invariably overcooked (much as Disorderly describes). However, in France and Spain, it is usually prepared much rarer than we would be accustomed to. So then, you never know that if you order your steak "medium rare", you are are going to get it "Cooked for Spaniards medium rare" or "Cooked for tourists medium rare".

It's why I rarely order it either in the UK or abroad. And never in a place that doesnt look as though it specialises in good steaks.

c'an andreu

When you say you rarely order it, does that mean you order it rarely? It which case you might want to order it medium rarely.

My brain now hurts and I'm going for a lie down.

This has happened before, but rarely. Really.

We are now way off topic - it was meant to be about Ca'n Andreu so am now closing this post.

But as an aside try the so called 'rare' steak in Florence - looks (& tastes) as if it has only just left the cow....:(
