After a week of flu, I was delighted to feel well enough to finally attend this concert, especially as I’d been really looking forward to it.
Candlelight concerts take place all over the world, but in Mallorca they’re held at Pueblo Español in Palma, which is a beautiful setting. The concept is simple: well-known music from different genres, given a classical twist, performed in a stunning candlelit atmosphere.
We chose the Coldplay / Imagine Dragons concert, as my daughter is a big Coldplay fan. A string quartet performed a selection of songs from both artists, surrounded by hundreds of candles.
The setting was so atmospheric. Softly lit, intimate, and very special. The musicians were exceptionally talented, and the music was flawless.
The concert lasts around an hour, which felt just right.
There are five pricing zones.
Premium (the front few rows), followed by Zones A to D.
Prices ranged from around €45 down to €18.
We chose Zone A, and I’m glad we did. You don’t need to be right at the front to enjoy the experience, but sitting further back might feel a little distant, especially as the seating is flat. The stage is raised, but a very tall person in front of you could slightly affect the view.
That said, the experience is really about the music, and I can’t praise the string quartet highly enough. It was a beautiful performance, and I’d absolutely go again.
Upcoming concerts include Queen / ABBA and Hans Zimmer, also performed by a string quartet.
But next on my personal list is the music of Ludovico Einaudi, performed by a pianist - which I can only imagine will be stunning.
Highly recommended.
