Car hire-Have no credit card

Hi all

I'm with "its cd" on this one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with credit cards whatsoever. It's just the irresponsible actions of some people who take them out.

"jet2majorca", you have had one before and I do strongly advise you get another one. In this day and age it is a bit reckless I believe to travel without one. You never know when you are going to need money quickly.

They cost nothing to obtain, you get 56 days to pay off any usage without fees and my Barclaycard has insurace for anything over £100. Indeed I had to use it several years ago when hiring a car in Mallorca and was double-charged. I advised Barclaycard and they sorted everything out for me. I had to do nothing.

When you're not away on holiday simply hide it away.

I have used the Post Office card to pay for my car hire but for the purpose of swiping the card for damage etc they would not take it and i had to give them my credit card for that.

sws97sdg your right about checking balances with the cards its a pain the only way i do for the Post Office card is use the mobile to check it. Not ideal. Also the Post Office does not have free withdrawal's its something like 2.5 or 3 euros a time but the Cash Passport card from travelex is now free withdrawals.
