look carefully at car hire 'terms and conditions' when ordering a car online. I arranged a car hire for Sept through 'Do You Spain' in UK and even when I had given my age (71) a quote from 'Record car hire' popped up. I booked online and when printing out my voucher I read the T&C to discover that Record will insist that I take out their 'excess insurance' at €190 for a hire which cost €82. This 'supercover' or excess liabilty cover is the new rip off from airport hire companies and tucking it into the small print is just another method of trying to conceal it.
Naturally I cancelled the hire and re booked with another company.I am already in dispute with Goldcar who, some months ago added this insurance to my hire without telling me and despite me making it clear that I didn't want it! I only discovered the addition at the end of the holiday and they are saying that I signed the contract - so hard luck.
Let the buyer beware!
