We recently returned from PP having hired a car for one week from a company which is featured on this site.
On checking credit card on our return to the UK, correct rental charge had been processed and then later, an additional large amount had been passed. We were horrified to say the least, and immediately sent an email to the company enquiring what this was for. Their response was it was for damage to the car, which came as a complete shock to us, as we had returned it in original condition and a member of their staff took the keys from us and said OK. This we duly reported to company. Fortunately, we had taken out Excess Insurance with Insurance 4Car Hire, so we quickly rang them for a claim form, also advising Barclaycard of the situation. We duly filled in the claim form and sent it back with a multitude of photocopies requested, as is usual in this sort of case. Meanwhile, car hire company forwarded photos of said damage attached to Garage repair bill (curiously bearing a date 3 weeks before we actually hired the car). 2 weeks passed and lo and behold, we receive an email from car hire company to say after further investigation, they are reimbursing our credit card with said amount.
The motto is get a signature to confirm no damage when you return car or take dated photos. It's taught us a lesson!
