Hi Folks,

wish I'd found this site earlier, I might have made fewer mistakes.
Anyway, down to the question, I've booked a hire car, just because it's more or less the same price as a transfer. :eek

I'm booked in to Hotel Residencia Eolo, right in the town centre. Where can I park this car safely for the week that I'm there?
Booking through Carjet, I find that there is an exclusion on glass and door locks because of the likelihood of some hooligan forrcing the car to get at my goodies, which appears to be a common occurence for tourists with hire cars. So, I'm looking for a safe place to leave the car during my weeks stay.

Thanks in advance and thanks also for such a great site. Wish I'd come across it sooner. :D

Cheers
Crypto.

Hi Crypto & welcome to the Forum!:D

We've always had hire cars in the past and we've either used the car-park by the marina or the one on a piece of waste land a few minutes walk from the square - help me with directions anyone, please!!!

However, with all the works going on in the marina it might not be possible to park there now.

Also, might be hard to "guarantee" somewhere safe to leave the car but I'm sure if you empty the car of any valuables you will have a reasonable chance of finding it untouched.

In the 10 years we've been visiting we've never had a problem.

We stayed at the Eola while completing the purchase on our apartment. Unfortunately, as with many hotels in PP, there isn't much in the way of car parking. We were advised to park in the free car park next door to the police station, at the back of the square. Is this the one you meant Jane ? Or there's a larger patch of waste land to the top right of the square (facing the church). If that's too far to walk, it means ordinary street parking. Let's face it, the locals just seem to abandon their cars anywhere! I think it's great, why don't we do that here !

Yes, Sandy, that's the one! I'm hopeless with directions!

bit concerned about the bad impression u seem to have got bout someone forcing ur glass ! we have been hiring for about 6 years now...usually for 4-6 weeks at a time...and never(touch wood) had any probs with break ins. As Jane says...hide ur goodies...just like u would at home !
Have a good one !

Got to agree with Med, we've been hiring for many years and never had any problem. If there's no goodies why would anyone want to break in? This sort of crime is more rife with organaised gangs who tend to operate around big supermarkets Etc, don't think it's a problem in PP.
