Casa vila

My wife had a good argument with the Manager of Casa Vila tonight. She and one of my daughters were in the Indian Restaurant whilst my other daughter decided to take her 2 nephews into Casa Vila for a Pizza. They were told all the tables were booked so went to another place for the Pizza. As my wife sat in the Indian within earshot of Casa Vila another couple came in and were promptly given the table my daughter had enquired about. She could only conclude they preferred adults eating adult portions and drinking wine. She went into Casa Vila and asked for the manager who after trying to fob her off with excuses offered her a table which of course was no longer required. I have eaten in this restaurant in the winter when the port is quiet and have had no bother with kids then. Hell will freeze over before they get any more business from any of our family.

Hi gpm......maybe the tables were pre booked / reserved and hence someone walks in and occupies the one your daughter was asking about, equally to avoid a "follow up scene" the manager chose to re-organise the plan.
To never go then again sounds harsh and as you can see from previous comments you will be really missing out........its a fantastic place in a good location , great menu with high quality food and wine.
In my experiance PP restaurants usually go out of their way to welcome all ages especially the younger generation.

Got to agree 1999, but the people had not booked, so in this case go back to my assumption they prefer adults. Didn't particularly like the food anyway, so it won't be a miss for me.

i think every restaurant can have their "moments" even the popular ones that people continually rave about. i have been to casa vila several times since JAnuary and its generally ok. but on one occasion I had a full glass of beer smashed over me by a waiter, the entire contents landed in the my lap including a thousand minute pieces of glass.the offending waiter seemed to disappear and i was handed a cloth by another. as compensation we were given a free shot type drink at the end which we might have got anyway, but amazingly i was charged for the beer on the final bill which was by then well soaked into my trousers along with a few scratches on my hands trying to rid of the glass.not great i thought. i actually did have to go home afterwards as the wet stain looked a bit odd. also I once took my parents to Stay on their first visit here for a big meal out, and the Lamb dish I ordered almost completely consisted of lumps of fat and no meat. they can all have their bad moments and i think its a bit unfair when 4 or 5 people round up on a place like what happened to Tribeca and Can Josep in recent months. los zarzales is another generally popular place but i once read on the forum about their food being excessively salty and as this is something I personally cant stand, I have never gone there and I'm sure its very nice. its all personal opinion. Now the Kiosko however, always a consistently good cheese burger at half past eleven at night eaten outside Nostalgia whilst trying to hide it from Colin.

We were very unhappy with Tolos last year including the fact they had given our table away prebooked
Decided to give it another go this year Again prebooked table gone but found us another that was nearby and though service was still haphazard food was very good so would always give it another go

It is the same wherever you are home or away you can normally count your local eateries that are consistent with service and food on a few fingers !

We did give Casa Vila a try ( we loved La Piazza which it replaced) in June but were not overly impressed. Complete mix up with my meal and the food generally was not brilliant - IMO of course; But as is so often shown on here - everyone seems to have widely differing experiences in so many restaurants:0

We ate here at Easter and loved it. Went back last week the food was still good and the service was ok too, but they over charged me 31 euros!!!! Their excuse ... they couldn't remember which table had ordered what!! I would go back as I like eating in the square and my daughters like the food, but please make sure you check your bill

Was this a 'good argument' as in enjoyable

In all the years we have been visiting PP we have not been to any restaurants that were 'child exclusion zones'. In fact quite the opposite. Which sometimes can bring its own problems

Sorry to hear of your experience but I have to say I have only had positive experiences in Casa Vila with my 4 and 2 year old.

I take my own juice for the baby and this was no issue and the boys just got pizza between them which the staff had no issue with and said start with one and we can order another later if you need it.

In no way have I found this an anti child place - indeed nowhere in the Port is. I take my children to any restaurant I feel like and never feel they should not be there.

We didn't get to try it this trip after the great meal we had in January, although when we looked at the menu outside it didn't seem to have as much choice as before and it didn't sound as enticing, just our view! we will look again next time

Its their first anniversary tonight, can you believe that a year already, they are advertising wine and canapes if you are over there, hopefully free!!
