Celler la parra

Just wanted to say what an amazing meal we have just had in celler la parra visitors on this forum talk about value for money well you will not beat this place for value and quality fresh ingredients and really great wine.

Definatley trying this place when were out in august. Seen it loads and never been in,and its only around the corner from us.The suckling pig sounds right up my street. Might not make it down the square if the house reds as good as it sounds:D

Suckling pig highly recommended in the Celler. Make sure you book your table and do also pre-order the suckling pig.

Went twice last week. What can I say. Food superb. Suckling pig , rabbit to die for. Red house wine to compete with named stuff anywhere. couple that with prices that make you think he is running it for charity.:) Enough said;)

Goodness gracious, I am now salivating at the prospect of eating here - and quite annoyed at myself for us having failed to visit before, sounds lovely. Thanks for all the reviews! :)

Squeezed in a booking for 9pm Wednesday after being rebuffed Sunday night. Trusting all you folk out there are right!
Certainly looks the part and ambience looks/feels good!

Don't take this the wrong way you Parra fans...

Being Fawlty Towers fans, we had a great night at Celler La Parra last night. We were a little confused by the liver on both the entre menu and the meat menu, both at the same price. However, we settled on 2 x lamb shoulders and a liver main course.

Sorry, no liver left - too many people had ordered it. Sorry, no lamb left - the ones you will see coming from the kitchen have been per ordered. Oh, right. Could we see the menu again, please?

Can we try pork loin wrapped in cabbage, please. Sorry it's out of season. (to be fair I'm sure this must have lost something in translation )
We ended up with three other pork dishes followed by local cheese and 2 almond cake and icecream.
Bottle of wine, water and olives came to a grand total of 50 euros.

Despite the setbacks above, we fully intend visiting again. What we had was very good (even though it wasn't what we really wanted), the staff were pleasant and helpful and the place itself great, though it would have been helpful to be told what items were off when we were first given the menu.

The question is - checking the Forum knowledge base here - how many days ahead do you really need to book., do you need to be early to ensure a full menu, or do you really need to book a table AND yourfood a number of days in advance ?

Trying to be positive here, folks!:)

We've always booked in the morning for an evening meal and been able to reserve a particular dish at that then.

Re: the lomo con col - I think we asked for this in May and we're told there wouldn't be any cabbages until much later in the year (October/November.)

I second the morning/lunchtime booking and dish pre-ordering. Same day was always enough for us, even with 4 or 5 wanting suckling pig.
Lamb and suckling pig are very popular so definitely pre-ordering those.

Not sure why they don't tell you beforehand what's unavailable. It probably would be a good idea.

Lomo con col also not available August/September whenever we asked. Thought it was around in springtime.

Seems odd to have it on menu when you only get it out of season. But as the Cellar is open all year round afaik it makes a little more sense.

We have only tried this restaurant once. We were also told cabbage was out of season last August. 4 went to the restaurant 2 had second choice meals and 2 third choice.
After all the good reports I think we must give this restaurant another go.

Perhaps we will order the meals in advance as well as the table.

Thanks for the tips - looks like book both table and food a day or two ahead is the thing to do.
We enjoyed our Fawlty night despite the hicc-ups and intend trying to fit Parra in again before we return home.

Clearly word has got around....so I'll have to book this year - well worth it. It's a proper local Mallorcan restaurant. SSSHH....keep it quiet!

Re - Lomo con col.

Have only ever managed to get this in the winter months. Not that its any consolation to those that have not tried it, its superb. I have found over the last couple of years that advance booking is essential. Turn up on speck and 9 times out of 10 you can forget it.

Just shows how popular this place has become.:)

I've even had to book in February.

Will have to try and come out in winter some time so ...

honestly in high season prob 5/6 days to be safe , the weekends seem to be the worst for getting a tbl , and i would say pre book your food if possible in there as everything is fantastic and great value , we had pre ordered our food when we were out in may
