We had another lovely meal in Centric tonight:), they are opening a second restaurant in Pollensa, it will be in the square and I am sure will be very successful.

They did tell me that they were thinking about this when they re opened in the Port for the season, i wish them well but hope the PP restaurant doesn't suffer as a result.

It shouldn't do, as the chef from Take Eat Easy is joining the staff next week.

Do you know whereabouts in the square, that must mean one has closed?

Next to the Church main doors, opposite the Colonya offices.

It´s quite a large building, three stories if I remember correctly.

It´s been closed for some time now.

Hope they aren´t taking on more than they can chew (sic)

Here´s the web site for the old one which was called Can Teresa.

It´s rumoured that the rent is not a million miles away from € 6.000 a month.

From your description Molt I thought it might be C'an Teresa. It was never the same after the brilliant chef, Ross, left. There is a lovely wine shop at the rear of the restaurant...I wonder if the Centric 'boys' will be keeping it on. Hope so :)

I hope we do not lose Giovanni. The best Customer Service in PP IMO

This is potentially excellent news. Ca'n Teresa was in such an amazing location and clearly a fortune had been spent on the building, but IMO they never got the menu or the layout of the restaurant quite right. The food at Centric is great so hopefully they will be able to recreate the same formula in Pollensa.

Had a lovely meal at Centric last night. A very warm welcome, good food and great service. The new restaurant is due to open tomorrow. Will try to check it out next week!

Good news Giovanni will be spending most of his time in the Port..

I just wondered if anyone had been to the new Centric in Pollensa Town yet?

Centric

After all the previous reports on Centric in the Port we ventured there a few nights ago with a couple of friends. I have to say we were somewhat disappointed! Two of us ordered the prawn and avocado starter with the latter being so hard it was inedible! On asking for it to be changed for a riper one we were advised there were none available. Next up one of the party had sea bass fillets where the skin was full of scales. Finally when the bill came we found we had been charged for an extra bottle of wine and water. Not impressed!

After all the good reports we will probably try it again but will certainly check the bill thoroughly.

You're a good hearted soul, Golfaholics.

Errors like that from both the kitchen and serving staff would see a restaurant crossed off my holiday list. It's not as though the area is short of good places that can get it right.

Sadly I also found Centric a little off it's usual standard but only little things like a glass of wine forgotten about (I was the only one dining!) and the amuse bouche arriving half way through my starter and the wrong sauce served with the lamb dish!

Centric in the Old Town appears to be doing really well - as it's so amazingly warm for late October, and the Square is such a beautiful location, we thought we'd give it a try yesterday evening. We were to be honest a little underwhelmed. We weren't given an amuse-bouche, which I seem to remember was very good in the Port - though maybe this no longer happens there either? My daughters ordered focaccia to start - quite a small portion for 3.80, with only three little pieces of bread. I chose the special bruschetta selection as some of the bruschetta available sounded very interesting. What I received was fresh and tasty, but all three bruschetta were rather ordinary flavour combinations largely featuring tomato - not quite what I expected from the other exotic combinations on offer. My husband did enjoy his baked aubergine starter. His suckling pig was delicious too, but what a tiny portion! - not much more than starter size. My main course was also a little disappointing - Argentinian sliced steak which was supposed to come with chimichurri but was in fact served with a bowl of sweet chilli sauce - not as advertised, and not the spicy hot and punchy dish I had been expecting. My daughter tells me her lasagne was OK, 'a bit like you cook at home' (so not that great really!), and nothing like as good as Casa Vila's. Daughter no.2 ordered tofu with noodles and said it tasted great but was stingy with the tofu. One aspect of the meal that impressed was the service - the staff were extremely helpful, took time to explain each dish and clearly cared about the customer. In this case it was the food that let the restaurant down - it just wasn't quite good enough, and with so many other lovely places to eat in the Old Town it's unlikely that we will return.

We have just returned from six nights and to be honest have never tried Centric in Puerto Pollensa, but as we were staying in Pollensa we decided to give the Pollensa restaurant a try, going by the good reviews. We too were disappointed we did receive the amuse bouche which was tasty my scallops were cold and then the potato and vegetable with the suckling pig were also cold, stone cold not even luke warm. We did send our mains back and they were returned warmish but still not really hot, the suckling pig was okay but I have had better elsewhere. I doubt we would return either.
