This is a very sad day. We were watching the rally close to the scene of the collision and saw the smoke. We rushed down the road with others as we saw the smoke but when we arrived the car was well alight. All present including drivers following will have done all they can to try and save the 2 in the car. It is so sad that one life has been lost and another is so badly injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families.

Lumbreras José del Cabo, co-participant in the eleventh edition of Oris Classic Rally Mallorca , died burned in an accident during the course of the event. As reported by the spokesperson of the organization the Renault 5 Turbo Super 84 , with the number 64. in participating has left the road Campanet in a curve and collided with a tree after it has started to burn. The pilot, Carlos Iscar, has been out of the vehicle but the passenger is trapped because the tree was blocking the door. Iscar has been taken to hospital with burns Espases 50 percent of the body, but is stable The event took place at 12.20 on Saturday, at the 5km stretch-Campanet Coves, and the incident has led to suspend testing scheduled for Saturday afternoon.


Rally organization, sponsors and collaborators lamented in a statement "this terrible accident" and sent "his deepest condolences to the families at this difficult time."

RALLY DRIVER IN BARCELONA HOSPITAL

The driver of the Renault 5 which crashed in the Classic Oris Mallorca Rally on Saturday who survived a tragic crack which killed his co-pilot, was continuing to be treated in the specialist burns hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona yesterday.
The 32-year-old co-pilot Jose Lumbreras, died after the vehicle hit a tree near Campanet and burst into flames. The tree apparently blocked his escape from the vehicle.
Carlos Iscar, who is a very well known character in Majorca, was able to escape from the vehicle but suffered severe burns from 10 to 15 percent of his body and was airlifted from Son Espases Hospital to Barcelona late on Saturday afternoon.
Medical sources have said that his injuries are not life threatening, but he is in a critical condition and will need complicated treatment.

Initiated an investigation into the fatal accident in the rally Campanet.

Rally

A very sad time from one who visits and follows the Mallorcan rally series every year. Having been in motor sport as a driver many years ago we always had to accept that motor sport in any guise is dangerous but in never makes it any easier to accept when incidents like this happen, no matter how infrequent they are. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of Jose Lumbreras and Carlos Iscar.

Emotional tribute to Son Moix copilot died during a rally.

Lumbreras José del Cabo, passenger died during the eleventh edition of Oris Classic Rally Mallorca, has been honored Saturday at Son Moix, as was the number 1,017 of Real Mallorca.

Before starting the game, has left a bouquet of flowers on the seat to which he was paid, located in the gallery sun, Row 12, seat 10. It has also held a minute's silence before giving way to the match between vermilion club with Llagostera.

This is not the first ceremony held in memory of Cape Lumbreras, since last Monday more than five hundred people paid a posthumous tribute to the co-pilot of 32 years versus local Renault Iscar polygon Can Valero, where the deceased served for over 10 years.

Also, this Sunday is organized another rally commemorating Lumbreras.
