I did wonder that myself, but that is no excuse for rude comments. Thoughts like that should stay as thoughts and not be posted on the forum. We still have not had a reply/comment so far from Percypop which does make one wonder:confused:
 
I think its a Brilliant idea if you have 10 people on Holiday who would get lumbered with all the cooking for the other 9 and if the cost is divided its well worth it and would make a perfect holiday. I applaud the idea and find it hard to believe any body on here would ridicule somebody for asking what i think is one of the most original and best ideas I have seen on here for a while. And as an extra win win it gives somebody in the Port a chance to earn a little more money and I know plenty here who need that opportunity so well done and I hope you fine your cook and have a wonderful holiday. ( If by any chance it was an April fool I still think its a great idea and maybe food for thought for others who are coming out in large Party. :) )

Hi perceypop. I too am horrified at the comments that have been directed towards you and I hope it doesnt put you off posting or joining in the discussions on this forum.

I know a local girl who has just started her own business and she is offering to do catering for tourists, who want to eat in their own villa. Her brother also caters for people who would like to have barbeques. I dont know all the details, but we were at her house the other evening for the Easter Procession and she provided some simple snack food for friends and family and it was delicious. Plain, simple and local. She lives in the old town and if you are interested please drop me a PM and I will get as much information for you as I can. I dont have instant access to the internet but I will get back to you asap if you are intersted. Bluejr77

We actually received the email request on 31/03 & advised the enquirer to ask on the forum. April 1st is just a co-incidence. :)
 
Unless my memory is playing tricks, I'm sure someone asked for a chef for a villa last year around the august/september time. I don't remember them ever posting as to how they got on .:confused:

What a reception!

Unfortunately,I had no idea there were people who wld abuse me just because I asked for help re finding a cook for our holiday.

We are a family with 3 very young children and doing our best to set up an enjoyable holiday.

There is nothing stuffy or pretentious in trying to find a sensible economical way of having a restful and practical good holiday.

I hope the snide comments will be logged by the rest of the Forum.

I appreciate the many useful replies and I will certainly follow them up

Nice to see you back PercyPop and please do not be put off by the few negative posts on here. Thankfully the majority of people do not make value judgements and are only too pleased to help.

It sounds a great idea to me and can well understand that having small children and perhaps early nights for them can make a holiday a challenge. Your idea is a great compromise and I'm sure many will look forward to your holiday feedback.

You should be able to pm Bluejr77 now as you have posted 3 times and therefore known to be 'real'! lol Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
 
Percypop, you were just unfortunate in choosing April 1st to post your request and put a little doubt in some minds;) I hope you are successful in finding a cook for your holiday and hope that you all have an enjoyable time which I'm sure you will:)
 
Welcome back percypop, thought you may have gone for good! :eek:

The original chef at Ca'n Costa years ago set up a business doing exactly what you are after and he was on a tv holiday show cooking in a villa in Pollensa. I've searched back through the forum as I think I did a post about it but cant find anything. His name was Bruno but nothing came up when I googled it!

There is another company called Rent a Chef Mallorca which sounds perfect. Had a look on their website and it looks very good catering for parties of all sizes.


I'm sure you'll have a fab holiday and please keep posting :)

Very kind ....once i can work out how to collect it!!

The lesson from this exercise is the same as Facebook

i.e. If you use open forums you expose yourself to all, including people with warped minds and too much time on their hands.....

plus some very kind ones.

personally, I feel that a monitor shld vet them

can you use my e mail? it is so much easier and does not invite the loonies of the world to join in!

If you look at the top of your page in the right hand side. You will see it says welcome. Under you will see private messages. If you click on there it will take you through to your messages and allow you to message members from there too.

Just a thought - I wonder by posting your private email address if perhaps you might be inviting spam?
