If I read it correctly, it seems that the Spanish Government are hoping to extend this ruling for another 6 Months. Can anyone confirm that, because we are then getting to the region where they are threatening next season as well.

VERY depressing.

This new ruling is set to run until May 2021 but individual regions can make changes as and when they feel it is safe.

At my time of life it would truly be a miracle if I was awake at that time , never mind outside.

Although it's clearly quiet here the restrictions aren't really impacting the quality of life. Wearing a mask is easy now in the cooler weather. The shops and bars which are open are still nice to visit. Infections rate overall are stagnating at 100/day but mostly in larger towns. Pollença is still st c. 20 cases.

I've got to say, again, that folks here don't socially distance very well...

The initial state of alarm is for 15days and then they need to the approval of congress to extend. The government as has been said wants 6 months but that may get reduced. We have to wait and see.

For arrivals into Mallorca from the UK, is there a current requirement to have taken and passed a COVID test within 72 hours of arrival? I’m getting conflicting opinions on this. Thanks

This is from the official Spanish government website

If you are travelling from a high risk country or area, you must provide a negative PCR test carried out within 72 hours prior to your arrival in Spain. In the event of not having done the PCR test, you will be liable to a fine and a test being carried out at the airport upon arrival.

but when do you get the results you cannot wait at the airport for 2 days ? or even 24 hours. unless you get the results within a couple of hours the airport is not really an option. unless of course you live very close to an airport.
Its a good idea once again here by the government but I am afraid poorly executed and not thought out properly so to help everybody wanting to travel here

We are going ( we hope) to Lanzarote for Xmas and have our tests booked with Boots about 30 miles from home but since we have booked them they are starting to do tests at Southampton cricket ground which is only 10miles away and several more Boots are now doing them to

By next summer I am sure there will be more places doing them if still needed
Some of the Airlines TUI Jet 2 are recommending postal services with a Discount but a couple of days ago 60 passengers werent able to fly to Tenerife as the ones Jet2 suggest didnt get the test results back in time !!

Had read about Boots doing Travel Tests for COVID but I expect they are still expensive and the big question is will you get the results in time? All the companies I have researched give NO guarantees that the results will get to you by the time you travel. Lets hope they get cheaper and more available so we can get back to the place we all love! on Travel Tests at Southampton Cricket Ground I can find nothing about this online - I know there is a drive through at Southampton Airport but this is for NHS tests for people with symptoms - not for people who want to travel.

Have just read a review about Boots and someone had their test back in 24hrs and cost is £120 each ( Boots in Fareham is nearest to us )

Visiting?.....Brexit not just Covid!! Needs to be considered

Covid is not the only thing you need to consider if you wish to spend time in Paradise next year!
Brexit brings in new regulations for the amount of time and when you can visit.

As of the first of January 2021 Britons can only spend 90 days out of every 180 days in the EU without a visa. As the Gov.uk website explains “From 1 January 2021, you will be able to travel to other Schengen area countries for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa for purposes such as tourism. This is a rolling 180-day period.”

Many British residents with second homes in Spain like to spend just under half a year here, especially in the winter months. That will no longer be possible. Three months will be the longest you can stay.

Not the case, currently you can come and go as you like. If your cumulative visits are more than 183 days then you may become liable to pay your taxes in Spain.
I'm not an expert by any means but currently you can
Stay 6 months in one go before it's a problem!
Now it's 90 days max, then you cannot come back for 90 days. It's not even as simple as that as the 180 days is a rolling figure
