Delays at Palma Passport Control

Son and family arrived 23.20 last night - picked up suitcase and in taxi by midnight! I believe the problems with passport control - coming in and leaving is more of an issue at the weekends and on Tuesday - when a lot of the cruise ships come into Palma. Fingers crossed for us in September.

We came back yesterday evening with hand luggage only so no problem checking in, I had not brought a newspaper, or kept up with the news and it was not until I received a text saying make sure you are at the airport early I was aware there was a problem, as I had already had a taxi booked I went to be at the airport the usual two hours ahead of flight it was less busy than usual through security.

Am happy to report absolutely no delays at passport control on arriving at Palma on Monday 7th August 2017 - and none today when leaving on the early morning 07.15 hours flight from Palma to Bournemouth. No big queues at security either. :)
The only delay was the big queue at the one and only cafe open in Terminal A. It's the first one you see when you arrive in Terminal A, No other outlets were open at all at 05.30 hours. :( No signs indicating when they might be open either.
One poor member of staff was the only person behind the counter in the Cafe which was open - all credit to him as he dealt with the enormous queue as well as he could and remained mil-mannered throughout.
Suddenly at 6am three further members of staff turned up for duty and the queue disappeared. :)

Hello, just please wondered what is latest on queues?

We arrived yesterday 11am Palma airport and we're through passport control in about 5minutes! Quickest and best ever because of the electronic passport reading machines as well as lots of helpful staff showing people how to use them. Brilliant, I hope all airports instal this technology and well done Palma

Expect the security inbound and outbound will be stepped up after the terrorist attack in Barcelona. Son had no delays last week - sailed through but we do think it depends on the time you arrive/depart. Only a week to go until we are back for some sunshine!

Following recent posts, perhaps this thread could be renamed 'No Delays at Palma Passport Control' ;)
And maybe, considering the criticism heaped on PMI a few weeks ago, a short email thanking staff for a recent pleasant transit through the airport may be in order. :)

Not forgetting heartfelt thanks for the 25 days of planned strikes at the airport towards the end of the year......

Agreed, they are brilliant. But, when my wife takes her glasses off for retina reading...it's hilarious. She can't see where to place her passport. Lol, Jimbo

Came back through Palma airport yesterday morning and while it was very busy we only took about 10 minutes to get past Passport Control. Security control was very quick and efficient too.

Where were the passport machines? I got there on the 14th, and all I got was the usual waved through.
