The main difference being that Spanish Social Security is a fixed monthly sum of about 260 euros and not a %age as in the UK.

Many thanks for your replies and helpful comments.
Where would I get the smaller passport photo done?

Most PC's have the option in the print menu to print a sheet of photos, these are roughly the size you would need, just a small amount of trimming will do the trick. :)

Hi thank you for your ideas and support. You're right this is getting urgent for me, and yes my Spanish is very limited! I will try the links you have provided. Thanks again

Well guys, I'm even more confused. I went to register again at the doctors with my NIE no. proof that I pay social security here, proof that I live and have a business here, to be told that my NIE certificate is now out of date, and I need to go to Palma for my residencia, but then they noted that my passport runs out in July of next year, and that to get my residencia it may have to be valid for 12 months?? I'm feeling totally despondent now. After reading your comments it would appear that I have to prove health cover to get my residencia, and vice versa! I'm really not sure what to do next. I don't have transport, so it's not just a case of jumping in the car and travelling from place to place , I have to plan my route around public transport. Please someone show me a light

I really would suggest that you contact Rebecca of PR Admin who should be able to help. Obviously there will be a fee but without the language I do think that you will have to pay for some help.

For what it's worth from my point of view I would definitely echo Pollensa's words of advice personally. Sometimes in life you just have to fork out for some things and this sounds just such a thing to me. Too important not to get it right.

Money well spent in the long run IMO!

Hi Blueboy1, I have sent you a private message.

Kind regards
Rebecca
