Ok peeps

The kebab thread got me worrying for a bit that Rafa's was going to give up Batucada and that has got me thinking

If you had to pick some special things ( started off thinking one thing but then realised there was no way I could come up with just one ) about PP that you really couldn't bear to lose what would they be.

Ok so lets not include the sea sand and lovely mountains ..... They are a given

To start us off my list would be in no particular order

The Hustlers
Batucada
Trio
The helados hut
Illa D'Or
Seaplane
Ferry to Formentor

1. Views to die for
2. Sitting at the cultural in the square mid afternoon with a drink so tranquil
3. Cava on the beach early evening with those views
4. Wednesday market
5. Restaurant stay
6. Cocktails at the I,lla dor and Capri
7. Chloe and anuama clothes shops
8. Xocolat cake shop
9. Walking the pine walk anytime of day

Thinking of all these wonderful thoughts can't wait to go back roll on end of March

Initially I was at risk of just typing a huge list including just about every hotel, bar & restaurant we've visited - however, when I thought about this a little more I realised, as much as we'd be upset if our favourite hotel/bar/restaurant ceased to exist we would cope with our 2nd or 3rd favourite-

So my choice is simply 'the people':
The locals, ex-pats & fellow holiday makers are really the most important factor in creating the PP atmosphere that we love. (but the weather & views help too !).

Lol, Doogz, I was going to post almost exactly the same thing, I had been thinking and even if some of our favorite places closed it wouldn't matter, we would find more, we were gutted when Tango moved but we still go!
It would have to be the scenery for me, if they did build hotels all around the bay or stick oil rigs in the bay it might make me think about going elsewhere.
But as you say one thing I wouldn't want to lose would be the spirit and the friendliness of all the people there, thats what makes it for us, the welcome you get form everyone from locals to friends we have made, that is the thing that draws people back, and as you say the stunning views and weather help!

things we would miss

Great thread ..3 things, only 3? Here are my 3, the pine walk, anytime of day, any weather, always something to see, seaplane, go like a silly grinning kid when I hear the rumble of the engine, ice cream hut, perfect way of rounding off a night, walking said pine walk with a side by side cone in your hand.

Pet hate of mine on holiday is anything remotely "themed" english, scottish, welsh, british, irish, australian, karaoke, flamenco, sports bars, bier kellar etc etc
Nostalgia is a bit of all of above but done in the correct manner
Warm, friendly owners with a great attitude that only maturity brings
Always full of ex pats, holidaymakers and locals
Been a great wee addition to the port in past 5 or 6 years
And no I'm not blowing smoke up the guys backside as I don't even think he knows my name always refers to me as "big man"
And micheala what can you say is there a friendlier person on the whole island?
That's my tuppence!

1. Pepe's full monty breakfast when you've got a hangover the size of a small country and the only one who will speak to you is the parrot !
2. The absolute gem of a chemist shop who over the years, for assorted family and friends, have cured tarantula bites, stings from rampant bullhorn acacia ants, acute hypoxia resulting from spending too long in the death zone on the "mountain" walking to CSV, and especially for importing the specially formulated paracetamol developed by Smith Kline Beecham to target the effects of Rafa's lethal G&T selection.
