Dragon Oriente

We are now pleased to have Dragon Oriente Dragon Oriente - restaurant in Puerto Pollensa (Port de Pollenca), Majorca (Mallorca) as a featured restaurant. As well as a large menu it has two good value set menus served all day (8.99 or 9.99 euros).

Also a childrens menu and childrens play area.

It is. We often make this kind of announcement on the forum when a restaurant/bar begins to advertise on the main website .

I have to say we have had quite a few very good take-aways from Dragon Oriente, they are friendly and more than happy to substitute ingredients and/or dishes on the set menus .

Yes Cath you are right, this is a pet hate of mine but the place in the square is even worse than that, i have seen them actually hold on to people and try to "guide" them in the door .

I quite agree Cath. On our recent visit we got fed up with being harrassed in the street to eat there. we have sat in previously and it was o.k. although the carry out dishes left a lot to be desired and the chinese at the top N.E. of the square is a much better option, if you like chinese.

On my Hols the last thing i want is a chinese or Indian meal can have that anytime at home and there so many good places to eat that i would not want to miss eating in for the sake of a chinese or Indian. Each to their own

I'd love to see them try that with me ..... they would just find themselves getting dragged up to El Posito

If you mean La Villa, this is now closed and about to re-open as La Roda whcih I think is more traditional fare.

Its a pet hate of mine too, being harrassed as you walk past. Its only the Chinese that do it. Serenity Coast, Luna de Miel and Dragon Oriente. Sometimes its like running the gauntlet just walking down the road.

well i'm glad that i hadn't paid for an advert on this site, got a thread started about it, then get laid into by everyone. I think the chinese restaurants are getting a bit of stick here cos you are able to generalise and lump them all together. There are just as many "local" restaurants that try to tempt you in either with blackboards, flyers etc. but that seems to be ok. Regarding not wanting chinese or indian on your holiday is a personal choice. Most people think that you must only eat in "local" restaurants full with "local" people and serving "local" food. Off you pop to your local Harvester with covers all 3 but is not necessarily good. 20 blackboards outside offering averything under the sun would not tempt me in, even if it is mallorquin owned and run. Gone are the days of Mama Juan cooking the food in a tiny kitchen for the next days service and all they serve is that dish. The internet has made the world smaller. You are able to get all types of cuisine in every corner of the globe, PP is no exception.
By the way one indian restaurant is co owned by someone from Pollenca and someone from Bangladesh and gets very busy with locals. In fact i might open a chinese restaurant with a mallorquin partner and a british chef, not sure i would advertise here though.

"Get Laid into by everyone" All I see is a few complaints about what is generally seen as overly aggressive sales technique: Blackboards and flyers are one thing - and easily avoided, people getting chased/harassed in the street or manhandled is however something completely different. FWIW I've found the best thing to do is just to take a menu the first time you offered one and hold onto it > the next time you pass and they start heading towards you just wave the menu at them and you'll just get a wee wave and a smile and otherwise be left alone .

Regarding not wanting chinese or indian on your holiday is a personal choice.

I don't see where anyone has said that - the only message that I can think even hints at that is Gers1 but I just read that quite simply as "I can have a curry/Chinese any time of year at home but I can only get Mallorquin food while I'm on holiday so I'll take full advantage while I can." - which is exactly pretty much my view. Although I'm sure if I was a resident in PP I'd certainly make the effort to try out the various Indian restaurants to satisfy my curry cravings

We've had several excellent meals from Dragon Oriente in Calle Formentor. The staff in there are really lovely and the food is excellent value for money. The house wine is very reasonable too.

As Sparky says, they are more than happy to change any main course item for another one of your choice on any of the set menus. The Roast duck in szechuan (sorry not sure if that is spelled correctly!!) sauce is delicious!

We've also had a take-away from there and it was really good.

I personally don't mind them giving out menu flyers - if I don't want one, I just say 'no gracias' and that's the end of the matter.

PP is no place for people chasing after you with menu's. I had it while on the beach in April and smiled politely. However, if it persists I shall give them "both barrels" !!!

It's uneccessary. What with that and all those "looky, looky" men. Clear off and DON'T bother me .......I'm on my hols.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
