Driving back to Palma Airport

We got from the airport to our villa ok but seemed to get a bit lost on the way back - we saw an airport sign for airport and Pont d'inca on the PM27 is this the one to take or do you carry on further towards Palma?
we got there eventually but not sure how and don't want to make any mistakes next time.

Charlotte, Think you came off way to early. In future just head straight for Palma until you see the big yellow signs showing a silhouette of a aircraft, don't deviate from that and you can't go wrong.

A big new sign to the airport has appeared at the turn off for Al Campo, a route I have always used that goes past Carrefour, not sure if it is any quicker, and involves a lot of roundabouts.

But as Smiddy says you cannot go wrong carrying on towards Palma, the way most the Taxis etc use.

I had a felling we went off too soon but it was confusing seeing a airport sign so early - but it wasn't yellow!

When we arrived in palma 2 weeks ago it was rush hour (what a strange image Mallorcians rushing :lol ) and the Globespan bus driver (a local PP resident) took an early turn off on the via ferrata (I know it's not called that but if you know what a Via ferrata is you'll laugh) and we headed down a "main" street passing an Airport!!!! after much time we ended up in Inca joining the road just on the outskirts. Now charlotte could this road have a sign post for what looked like a small cival airport on the outskirts of Palma?. There were what looked like EMT helicopters and prop aircraft, I near twisted my head off to get a longer look:lol .
when comming into land I was sure I'd seen a runway which looked too small.
Ok who knows about this airport?.

Charlotte/Rob, Yeah, i forgot there is a sign for a airport there, never seen it, but have noticed light aircraft coming in to land. Could easly confuse. Then again it could be my destination for those cheap flights i purchased lately

Snowy came to the rescue last night with a link to the following site www.aena.es look for Son Bonet. i really did see another Airport and that I guess is the one the little sign in Inca points to. it's about 4 K northwest of Palma and ia a non controlled cival airport.
So Charlotte I think you did follow a sign for an airport it just wasn't Palma International airport. I must admit if it wasn't for the fact the bus driver had taken that "short cut" avoiding the rush hour traffic I would never have noticed the little sign on the way back, because I've never seen it before.

I did notice another airport marked on the map when I was trying to navigate my husband to the main airport from our little detour to Illetas. Furtunately he pointed out that the airport we wanted was near Ca'n Pastilla on the coast or we would have ended up there too.

Hi Pollensa!

To avoid nasty arguments in the car hubby navigates while I drive! I can then blame him if we go wrong!

But I happened to see two airports on the map as well and wondered when the other had appeared.

There's enough confusion surrounding Palma airport - surely we don't need another airport thrown in as well!

As mentioned above it is: Son Bonet airport, located 4 kilometres from Palma de Mallorca, operates with general aviation and sport flights.

See www.aena.es select English & choose Son Bonet from the list of airports. There are even panoramic photos of it!
